Guest guest
Stop the Senate From Regulating Supplements! Ask Your Senator to Oppose Any Amendment to S. 3217 That Would Give the FTC Unchecked Powers The Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2009 (H.R. 4173), recently passed in the House of Representatives, includes language that goes far beyond finance reform. This provision, inserted by Congressman Henry Waxman (D-CA), would burden the nutritional supplement industry with costly, meddlesome, and unnecessary regulations. The Senate is expected to vote on the finance " reform " bill as early as this weekend. Your immediate help is needed to get rid of this absurd addition, which threatens our access to nutritional supplements. Why Should We Oppose This Bill? The Waxman provision would give the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) important new powers that could be used to circumvent key protections in the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA). The FTC could use such powers to impose new and crippling advertising guidelines -including a requirement that supplement companies perform at least two human studies before making any claims for their products. Insisting that supplements be treated like drugs would not enhance public health or safety. Furthermore, it would be absolutely detrimental to the viability of the supplement industry and a further drag on our struggling economy. How You Can Help We need your help to stop this burdensome regulation. Please urge your senators not to support any amendment that would give the FTC unchecked regulatory powers. _Click here_ (http://doctorspreferred.com/Apps/DCS/mcp?r=7004BnXt47f1601200047jb304BnXt0mR3Hs\ R3My) to go to the Alliance for Natural Health website. Just put in your name and address and click " send message " to send a free e-mail letting your Senators know that you oppose any legislation that would regulate dietary supplements.
