Guest guest
Our 11 year old daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 5 months ago. She's getting 5 shots of insulin per day and she's strong, but it just brings me to tears sometimes because her life (our lives) have been so hard and to top it off with this is just so unfair! Anyway, as I understand Type 1 means the pancreas has either drastically cut down or stopped completely producing insulin. So I thought maybe I'd research on any methods of supporting/helping/rebuilding the pancreas.... and I couldn't find much. The only thing I found was http://www.herballegacy.com/Pancreas.html . I found about 3 people sayig they use it. But nothing else. Any thoughts? I ordered both capsules and liquid from http://www.bestorganicnatural.com/supplements/blood-sugar.html but it hasn't been delivered yet. When it comes in I'll research it some more and figure out what dosage/protocol to use. I've read about Dr. Christopher before so I'm interested in it, but I could find more about it. Every local health store I went to had never heard of it or the cedar berry ingredient. Let me know if any of you have comments!! Thank you .....anna www.AnnaEadie.com ________________________________ >> Type 1 Diabetes Hello there ... Guest guest
 Hi Anna,            My heart goes out to you and your daughter. It is hard to find out you or a love one has this disease. I'm a type1 diabetic also . Everyone of us go through these same feelings . You need to know it isn't the same disease as it once was. Today with proper diet and insulin you daughters life will be pretty much normal as everyone else . The most important thing is to regulate the insulin . Taking insulin will keep the pancreas from completely burning out .       There is often a confusion about type 2 and type 1 diabetes . Type 1 is an autoimmune disease and betacells in the pancreas are destoyed; no herbs are going to restore them . Some herbs are helpful in type 2 but not in type 1 . Type 2 differs in that it is a metabolic disorder, Whereas type 1 is the distruction of beta cells in the pancreas.       Other than insulin and diet ;exercise is good medicine for both types of diabetes . don't feel sorry for yourself and don't let your daughter feel sorry for herself. It's counter productive. I know its hard ,been there done it. Also check out   www.tudiabetes.org this is a great support group on line foe all diabetics .               I promise you if your daughter follows a few simple thing she can live a happy life without complacations.                                         \                   Your Friend and fellow type1 diabetic                                         \                               Joe Dennis Anna Eadie <annaeadie Re: << >> Type 1 Diabetes Friday, April 9, 2010, 1:59 PM  Our 11 year old daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 5 months ago. Guest guest
I would disagree with that. I've been researching Type 1 diabetes for quite a while as I have a daughter also diagnosed with it. Mainstream medicine is not the only way, although they will constantly tell you it is irreversible. A couple of years ago I ran across info from a Dr. Tarek Kamal Reda in Eqypt, if I remember correctly, who had a nutritional study running that did in fact cure a couple of Type 1 diabetics. It made the news and I heard about through the google alert I have set for anything relating to Type 1 diabetes. The study seemed to have been shut down almost immediately after that, no doubt by pharma interests. Diabetes is a multi billion dollar industry, they are not looking for a cure, pharma's interest is in only to treat diabetes, there is no money in a cure. A nutritional cure for Type 1 diabetes would have a serious impact on Type 2 income. I say keep researching. I am not content to just sit still and just treat the disease. I'm interested in finding other ways to ensure my daughter's health. Since it's not been that long since your daughter has been diagnosed, I would definitely put her on a gluten and casein free diet. If she is still in the honeymoon phase, you could possibly stop the antibody attack. Both are linked to causing Type 1. From Natural Bias: Type 1 diabetes is often classified as an autoimmune disease and can be caused by the immune system attacking the insulin producing cells of the pancreas. In 1999, scientists in Germany found a strong correlation between type 1 diabetics and high levels of antibodies for A1 beta casein.10 It’s believed that these antibodies are actually based on the amino acid sequence of the problematic opioid BCM7 that’s derived from A1 beta casein. Because this sequence has similarities to the protein structures of insulin producing cells in the pancreas, the antibodies attacking pancreas cells along with BCM7 peptides. This is similar to the autoimmune response that often results from sensitivity to gluten. There is a ton of info on the web about gluten issues. Also I would highly recommend starting her on enzymes, VitalzymX, Wobenzym, are both excellent brands. Probiotics, a good blood sugar support product, Vit C at least 500 mg, 3 times a day and magnesium, (any form except oxide). B-complex is very important, Niacin can lower insulin needs. The less insulin she needs, the better for her health. Also highly recommend to eliminate soy and anything with soybean oil in her diet. The less processed foods the better and don't take the advice of the endocrinologists to give her sugar free foods, they are very bad for the body. Substitute Stevia for sugar. If you're interested in some excellent nutritional and health info, check out Dr. Tim O'Shea at www.thedoctorwithin.com. Question vaccines, Hep B has been linked to Type 1 diabetes development along with several other vaccines.
