Hi,

The book, Essential Reiki by Diane Stein, gives you the symbols that you

will need to know. But in order to get the attunement, you will need to get

that from a Reiki teacher. Now, about this attunement. We are all

natural healers, so if I were you, I would get the book and practice reiki

myself

without that attunement first. You may be able to do it. Holding the

attunement over our heads may just be a way of Reiki Masters trying to get

money from us, telling us we need it, when we actually don't.

You can do distant healing with Reiki. I find that Matrix Energetics is much

more powerful and quicker. You might go into the Matrix Energetics site and look

for a practitioner near you or request distant healing. I do this but still in

the learning stage.

I live in southern california with no car and it just so happens that i live

in the one area of so cal where there is virtually no alternative reiki

teachers, that i have been able to find. I was wondering what people think of

the online courses and do you think it might be a good idea, if so, what school

do look like they might be good school to look into.

I do several healing modalities. First I started prayer and simple

sending when I joined one of the

Edgar Cayce Groups. I did this for a long time and got to where I

could feel energy leaving my hand and

began to scan and feel the energy field of others. Next came Reiki

one. I was told that when the practitioner

came back to town, I could get Reiki too and learn to send energy. My

reaction: I can already do that, why do

I need to get a further attunement. This was long long ago when

finding a Reiki practitioner was rare; not so

now. And very little explanation was given then as to how it works.

Does it travel along meridian lines,

or the strange pathways. Does it re-align chakras that are mis-

aligned. All I was told is that it goes where

it needs to go. Nothing about how it changes the subtle energy bodies

or the physical body.

 

Since then I have been either a client, student, and/or practitioner

of many modalities.

 

That is not to discount or dismiss Reiki -- only to say that you do

not have to be attuned in this modality to

sense, send, or manipulate energy and bring about healing.

Generically, you can use color, sound, light,

and symbols other than Reiki symbols. Also breath work and body work

to increase and direct chi to various

parts of the body. And the number of named energy/alternative

modalities and people teaching is legion.

 

So what is the purpose of this post?

 

-- to suggest that we are energetic beings and there are many ways to

work with the energetic

body and its systems -- the grids, chakras, auric fields, meridians,

etc. Witness the work of John of God,

or many medical intuitives, Donna Eden, and many others.

 

And to ask a few questions about Reiki specifically.

 

That said, if it were not so expensive, and if I were a regular energy

practitioner, I would go for the master level Reiki but not limit my

study and competence to that alone.

 

Your post suggesting that holding the Reiki symbols over the head is

interesting. If you are familiar with

Emoto, you know that thoughts, emotions, and intentions do impress

upon and change water. And other

mind-sciences say that holding focus and having a strong clear

intention sets energy in motion and directs

it like a laser beam to achieve results.

 

I would be interested in reports from any one who tries this (holding

the symbols to your head with intention) -- would you have some " aha "

body sensation or knowing?

 

And here is a question for those who are advanced Reiki or master

Reiki practitioners. When you get an attunement, what is the attuner

actually doing to the attunee? As in opening/clearing chakras?

Activating the

pineal? And how does this align one with the specific healing line

known as Reiki. Can you loose your

attunement?

 

What about the deceased Masters? Could they be contacted by an

individual and in that way receive an

attuntement -- considering that the student is " ready " -- and if that,

what would " ready " mean.

 

Is there any case of an attunement NOT taking.

 

And why is there so much divisiveness with regard to which Master you

are attuned by.

 

Glad to see this subject discussed -- I have long wondered these

things (from time to time when I

meet a practioner.

I started and was guided on my spiritual path with the Edgar Cayce books. I

had a inner knowing of truth with Cayce, my ideal person. Then I went to

the A.R.E. in NYC, a Edgar Cayce center. I learned so much their and enjoyed

their Sunday gatherings and guest speakers.

 

Actually everyone is a healer, we just have to believe in ourselves to

heal. I did not like Reiki because it is too complicated, I prefer simple and

basic. Kundalini Reiki is simple without symbols, you just apply the

energy. Online their are many who will give free attunements. Then their is

Spiritual Surgery, which is simple for anyone to do. I have the free

Spritiual Surgery Info. and Manual. If anyone would like it, email me and I
