Guest guest
I personally have done several looks into the community and feeling on aspartame. Web searches bring up masses of negative data with amounts of positive data sprinkled through. Both sides are copying and reformatting the same data to make it look more but still, not too many good reports. It seems like the quantities taken and in what products they are used, example the sports drinks industry. Of course Aspartame is a component that turns into three things (This is all form memory so do your own checking) Wood or Ethyl Alcohol being one such component. It can turn in to formaldehyde like product in the body, depending on the conditions used. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspartame I keep a package here for those who want it rather than sugar, have had no takers yet in the 2 years. I was thinking of popping a pill of it into the crack where the little ants come in but then I don't really want to kill the poor ants. Guest guest
¶I have a gut feeling about aspartame and it's not good. [Dave]: Yeah, that about covers how I feel about it, too. Whether it started out as an ant poison or the serum of nirvana, it's still made in the lab which means it is not food. The only reason people eat it at all is that someone told them there's another way to lose weight than taking in fewer calories than you spend. Guest guest
All the artificial sweeteners make me sick on my stomach and I stay away from them. Stevia is an excellent alternative. It is from a plant and is 300 times sweeter tasting than sugar without all the issues that come with sugar. It is a big help for diabetics – they can have their sweets and eat them too. Guest guest
I object to your saying that if it is made in the lab it is not food. Some things made in the lab are good for you. Some foods are not good for you. Jan Young In a message dated 5/31/2007 6:56:07 P.M. Pacific Daylight Time, dlmbrt writes: Dave]: Yeah, that about covers how I feel about it, too. Some foods are not good for you. Jan Young [Dave]: Um. Well, first of all I apologize if I offended anyone. I happen to think that I stated a fact, but I have been known to be wrong in the past (my ex-wife has the exact count; I believe it is in the zillions). You are perhaps a lab worker? In any event, I'm sure you can name something made in the lab that you would call food. Chances are, I would not eat it whatever it's called. As far as foods not being good for you, the vast majority of products that fall under that category are made at least partially in the lab, and when examined turn out to contain very little that actually nourishes us. Generally speaking, if it isn't good for you, it isn't food. [Dave]: That's the trouble with many of these controversies, and it makes it hard to separate the wheat from the chaff. Guest guest
I use stevia, too. I would love to make cookies, candy, etc with stevia but have not found how to adjust a recipe when using stevia instead of sugar. Does anyone have any recipes with stevia? , " Fran Bott " <fran wrote: > Stevia is an excellent alternative. Guest guest
Try using Xylitol instead - I believe you use it in the same proportions as sugar. Lin Miranda <ms8miranda wrote: I use stevia, too. Guest guest
Yes but be careful as Xylitol is deadly to pets Linda Kellum <lindatkellum wrote: Try using Xylitol instead - I believe you use it in the same proportions as sugar. Guest guest
GRACIE: Keep it up and your loved ones will be able to watch aspartame kill you in degrees by neurodegeneration, because of the formaldehyde, the diketopiperazine will cause brain tumors, and all of this will be irreversible. you need to google and watch Cori Brackett's DVD on line (free) Sweet Misery. You have no idea what you are talking about or how truly lethal it is. And please spell it correctly with an a, not an e. Both Hawaii and New Mexico Legislatures are considering stop aspartame legislation, and Hawaii is considering an outright ban which less than a week ago got 14 out of 25 Senators to sign on as cosponsors. Surely you don't think they are mistaken, do you? Hawaii Native population has for a long time experienced high levels of diabetes and the ignorant but well meaning doctors recommend Equal (made by the Merisant corporation, which is now bankrupt---what does that tell you, Gracie?) so they and their children of these Native Hawaiians are experiencing way higher levels of epilepsy and grand mal seizures, a proven matter of statistics. They are mad and they have let their Senators speak for them!!!! Guest guest
The New Mexico version is about half as long and will have a number in about a week if any of you feel like writing a brief letter to New Mexico legislators, as it will have a fierce opposition from several corporate lobbyists, particularly from Ajinomoto of Japan, the world's largest aspartame manufacturer, also the world largest MFR (that's " manufacturer " ) of Monosodium Glutamate.
