Guest guest
Hi! My name is Ellen and I just joined. I've been practicing alternative medicine since 2000. I haven't had even one coca-cola drink or commercial soft drink (knowingly) since then. My wake-up call was being diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. To this day, I haven't needed (or wanted) conventional medicine. Apparently, the gene deletions I have are protecting me from having really bad cll. Anyway, I also have autoimmune thyroiditis (autoimmune disease is said to be more common in folks with cll), but my bloodwork for thyroid, including free T3 and autoimmune antibodies, has always been normal. An endocrinologist diagnosed me with autoimmune thy. based on my symptoms (tachycardia, thyroid feeling like a lump of raw meat, etc., etc.). There is no treatment for me right now, except I take an herbal extract of motherwort and bugleweed, and have re-started some Iosol iodine. I do not feel at the top of my game. To complicate matters, my 37 yr. old daughter, who lives with my husband and me, had abdominal surgery on 12/18 and they found an endometrioma (huge mass that covered her appendix; they had to remove 4 " of small and 4 " of large bowel to get rid of it all). An endometrioma is caused by endometriosis. There were other little tiny dots of endom. elsewhere in her abdomen (we have the photos) that shouldn't be causing any major problems. She's getting back to her old self again, went back to work early in Jan., however, a consult with 2 gyn docs proved rattling. They both want her to go on Lupron...........the hormone from hell that would give her menopausal symptoms. The 2nd doc, just yesterday, also suggested she could get pregnant to knock back the endometriosis, but fat chance of that, plus he held out the option of birth-control pills which he said would stop periods. My daughter's not a social creature, she works as a chemist, then comes home at night and watches her soaps. Besides, her weekends are all tied up tending to a small zoo of creatures that we have, including aquariums and outdoor ponds, very time-consuming. I think this doc was barking up the wrong tree, also, by giving her a website where she could get sperm.............neglecting the ramifications of having a baby without a father, and 2 grandparents with medical problems to raise it, as Robyn wants to keep her career. I want my daughter to find love, get married and have a child in short order, but don't know how to go about finding her a mate (she's an attractive girl, but not a girly-girl type, doesn't wear make-up). She's on several online dating websites, with no luck. I'm writing to ask you guys about things you might know to knock back endometriosis. Thanks very much, Ellen
