The paper reveals that proposed maximum amounts for some vitamins and minerals are so low they may even be exceeded in a single junk meal. “The risk analysis methods being used for nutrientsâ€, stated Dr Verkerk, “have been only slightly adapted from those used to limit our exposure to environmental chemicals like mercury, pesticides or dioxins. Nutrients cannot be treated in the same way because without them, unlike with environmental toxins, we suffer serious adverse health effects or die.†The European Union has fallen prey to pharmaceutical influence peddlers. This has become painfully obvious with the recent 'swine flu pandemic'. Several EU governments are trying to sell off or give away those stocks of vaccines the peddlers told them they must buy or face great liability. Pharma influence on health care regulators has also been obvious to any serious observer of the nutrition and natural medicines scene for more than a decade. The European Commission's recent directives on medicines laws and nutrients bear testimony to that. As the Italian saying goes, the knots are now coming to the comb, meaning it is becoming obvious that - just like buying millions of doses of swine flu vaccines - issuing restrictive regulations for nutrients, herbs and natural medicines was a bad idea. Why would anyone in their right mind restrict the availability of the only products that can compete in the area of health with pharma's patented medicines by providing real prevention? ... Unless, of course, their agenda was that of eliminating any competition to pharma's virtual monopoly in the area of health (or rather sickness) care. And ... according to the Alliance for Natural Health, even the justification for dosage restrictions on nutrients turns out to be lacking scientific merit. ---- -- go to _http://www.anhcampaign.org/news/proposed-dose-limits-on-vitamin-supplements -in-europe-found-to-be-scientifically-flawed_ (http://www.anhcampaign.org/news/proposed-dose-limits-on-vitamin-supplements-in-\ europe-found-to-be-scienti fically-flawed)
