Guest guest
Hi everyone. My name is Susan, I'm 42, and I've got fibromyalgia, a thyroid nodule (they believe it is a cysty) and uterine fibroids. I was also told yesterday (after undergoing an stress echo last week) that I have three leaky valves. The three other then the mitro valve. The cardiologist said that my heart was very healthy, no blockages, and that the leaky valves were not a problem at all other then it will cause a lot of flutters, cahbumps, and flips and flops, and pain. Sharp pain along with a major caboom of a heart palp. The more nervous I am the more I get. The more tired, the more stressed, the worse they are. If I can calm myself and distract myself, they go away fairly quickly. The palpitations themselves have only once been recorded on an EKG, but never since... and they are happening much more frequently. I never have them during my tread mill stress tests, I stay in breath and on the danged machine just fine...... they tell me I'm in great health. So... Is there anyone else here who deals with this same problem? What do you do for it? My doctor says he doesn't want me to be on medication for it because I'll still have it going on, it just masks the palpitations and it won't get rid of the pain. I'll still have it. He gave me a beta blocker because he knows I suffer from panic and I told him that getting these things makes me panic like crazy... so he gave me a script so I would feel better... but now I'm wondering if I should take them at all... I've been on atenolol for three years now and apparently that's not doing anything. Actually, I never felt these painful palps until after on a beta blocker for a year. They gave it to me for racing heart... not high blood pressure. I would get little anxiety attacks and my heart would just start pounding up to 125 or 130 a minute. And when you think of it, that's not that bad. But I was put on them anyway. Sooooo... I'd love suggestions about where I might go for information and help, and if anyone has the same problems and what you've done to help yourself. Thanks, Susan
