Guest guest
Forwarding........ I checked the links and they all work. blessings, Shan Sorry, the links in the letter I sent to you earlier today were non-functioning. Here it comes once again, hopefully the links are OK this time: In the November 23 issue of New England Journal of Medicine the results were npublished from a trial where statin treatment was combined with either niacin or ezetimib. Although cholesterol was lowered more in the latter group, significantly more got a heart attack. The _abstract_ (http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/abstract/361/22/2113) is here and you can read more about it in _NY Times_ (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/16/health/research/16heart.html) . Please note also that while reports from statin trials with an allegedly positive outcome always are freely available, you have to pay for reading this one. A further warning against cholesterol-lowering treatment comes from Glyn Wainwright, Luca Mascitelli and Mark R. Goldstein. You can read their paper _here_ (http://www.lizscript.co.uk/Glyn/AMS01.pdf) . (Glyn and Luca are members of THINCS.) Recently our member Duane Graveline was interviewed about statin side effects on television. Both parts are available from _this website._ (http://ssptv.com/show.php?show_id=7) Jeff Cable, another of our members, have recently published _a scary report_ (http://www.joimr.org/JOIMR_Vol7_No1_Dec2009.pdf) about statin side effects. Finally a positive message. Those of you who have followed our work already know that saturated fat isn´t a menace to human health. Recently WHO and FAO published a new report, _Fats and Fatty Acids in Human Nutrition_ (http://content.karger.com/ProdukteDB/produkte.asp?Aktion=Ausgabe & Ausgabe=250361\ & P roduktNr=223977) . Now, finally, their experts have come up with the same conclusion. Go to pages 191 and 239. However, they haven´t changed their guidelines! You can read more about that paper _here_ (http://www.thincs.org/Uturn.htm) . Uffe Ravnskov
