An ionic detox foot bath is a foot spa used to cleanse your body of toxins

by drawing the toxins out of your feet. The process is supposed to

ionically and magnetically draw toxins out of your body. After placing your

feet

in the foot baths for several minutes, the ionic foot baths are supposed to

draw the toxins out into the water, where you can see the toxins that are

drawn out as evidenced by the water changing color and " floaties " appearing.

There is much controversy as to whether or not these ionic foot baths

really work. Many people believe the water changes color and the " floaties "

appear because of the minerals and chemicals already present in the water.

Things You'll Need:

* 2 large bowls

* _9-volt battery_ (http://www.ehow.com/shop_9-volt-battery.html)

* 2 small alligator clips

* 2 stainless steel spoons

* 2 2-foot pieces of wire [stainless steel as copper corrodes]

* 1 tsp. sea salt

Instructions

Step 1 - Attach one end of each wire to an alligator clip. These alligator

clips can be purchased at most craft supply stores.

Step 2 - Attach the alligator clips to each of the spoons, creating two

separate hookups. It is recommended by some that you use only stainless steel

spoons, since stainless steel is best for conducting the low level of

electricity used in the ionic detox foot bath.

Step 3 - Add 1/2 tsp. sea salt and enough warm water to cover your foot to

each of the two bowls. This should be about 3 inches of water in each

bowl. Make sure the bowls are large enough for you to put each of your feet

into.

Step 4 - Attach one of the wires to the positive terminal on the 9-volt

battery. Attach the other wire to the negative terminal on the 9-volt

battery.

Step 5 - Place the positively charged spoon into one of the bowls of salt

water. Place the negatively charged spoon into the other bowl of salt

water.

Step 6 - Place one of your feet into the positively charged bowl of water

and the other foot into the negatively charged bowl of water. Leave your

feet in the ionic detox foot bath for at least 10 minutes. In about 2 or 3

minutes, you should be able to see the water begin to change color, and small

particles should appear floating about in the water (floaties).

Tips & Warnings

Do not attempt to assemble an ionic detox foot bath using a direct current

from your household electrical supply; this poses a threat of immediate

and deadly electrocution. The low voltage of the 9-volt battery produces very

little electrical charge, and most people say they feel only a slight

massaging sensation during the treatment. Do not use any sort of ionic detox

foot bath if you have any sort of heart arrhythmia or use a pacemaker or

defibrillator unless you check with your doctor first.

How Do Ionic Foot Baths Detox the Body

One of the main misconceptions about ionic foot baths is that the color

change in the water is based on the toxins being removed from the body. This

is almost entirely untrue. The color in the water is due mostly to the

breakdown of the electrodes, the impurities in the water, and the oils and

sweat

on the person's feet. The way a footbath works is by allowing the body to

absorb negative ions from the footbath. These ions travel through the body

and allow the toxins - usually positively charged - in the body to free

themselves from their bonds with the body's tissues and cells. The toxins, now

neutrally charged and bound with a negative ions, are then able to be

removed from the body by the liver and kidneys during the next few days. Many

people report darker urine color or stronger odor for a day or two after

their footbath treatment.

Monitoring the Water

As you sit through the foot bath treatment you will notice that the water

will begin to change color. It will go from clear to very dark and dirty

looking. Sometimes it will even appear black. There is no need to fear. This

just lets you know that the treatment is working. The toxins that are being

drawn out of your body through the bottom of your feet are causing the

water to change color.

The changing water colors let you know what part of your body the toxins

are coming from. For example, if the water is black, your liver and

gallbladder is being emptied of toxins. If the water is yellow, toxins are

being

drawn out of your urinary tract, bladder, or prostate area. View the ionic

foot bath color chart located in the " Resources " section of this article for

more details about colouring.

For rapid detox he decided on the ionic foot tub. Instead of the Multi-Zap

he would use alligator test leads from Radio Shack to attach a 9-volt

battery. The positive went to the side with the left foot and the negative side

went to the right foot. Each side would have 1/8 to 1/2 teaspoon of Celtic

or Real Salt and 3 inches of warm water. Treatment time would be 30

minutes a day. It is possible that this setup would kill some pathogens in

addition to helping with detox.â€

We are finding the ionic foot detox with the feet in separate containers

works much faster than with both feet in the same tub. This is most

effective when the Harmonic Generator is used as the voltage source so

pathogens

can be removed during detox sessions. It is also possible to use a plain

9-volt battery. Please note that the feet must be in separate tubs with an

electrode each side for best results.

Any fully DC offset frequency source (pulsed DC) can be used for this.

Frequency generators like the F-Scan, F165 or any function generator can be

used. The GB-4000, Astropulse, BioSolutions and Global Wellness, BioSolutions

and other equipment that produces alternating current require a diode in

the circuit for foot detox purposes.

Be sure to use DC. If you are using an AC signal, put a small diode in

series with one wire.

The voltage should be just high enough to be felt. Most any frequency can

be used, but most people have used frequencies below 10000 Hz.â€

Questions and Answers

Q:

Richard, I have been using the foot bath with a 9v battery and it seems to

be helping (along with the Thuja and Peach extract).

The end of the spoon and alligator clip that I use in the left/positive

tub is turning a dark color, almost like corrosion. What is this from and

should I keep using them?

A:

Even a stainless spoon may slowly show some corrosion and you can use a

pot scrubber on it. The alligator clip is not stainless and should be kept

out of the water if possible.
