ANH eBlast – are you a link in the chain of change?

 

Most people are simply too busy with their own lives to do very much to

help alter the world around them—until the issues come to rest at their

back door. Well, now it’s that time. The work of governments and

corporations to push the swine flu vaccine and GM foods on us, while

simultaneously compromising our access to natural health products, is,

for many, one step too far.

 

Those of us around the world who are concerned—the likely number being

in the millions, not just the tens or hundreds of thousands—must link

together to create a united voice and a united intention to create

something better. We feel passionately that this new paradigm that we

strive for must be respectful of the laws of nature, of our ecology and,

most importantly, the relationship between humans and the natural

environment. And that’s exactly what the ANH campaign is about.

*GM news*

 

It’s easy for people to get bogged down with the scare stories. But,

don’t get despondent— there are some very positive things happening too.

 

After what seems to have been endless ‘green lighting’ by regulators for

GM crops, it’s good to see a US judge

put an obstacle in the way of biotech giant Monsanto.

 

Those governments that have largely sold out to the biotechnology

corporations are desperately trying to get consumers to be receptive to

the idea of consuming GM crops. Of great irritation to the planned

creep towards diets based on GM staples, Europeans have been among the

most resistant

But to test the effectiveness of the pro-GM propaganda machine, we’re

seeing more and more consumer surveys, the latest being undertaken by

the UK Food Standards Agency

We can only assume that the ultimate aim of this survey is to determine

if UK consumers are prepared to become more receptive to GM foods given

is one of four in Europe with a highly pro-GM stance.

 

*Consumer power*

 

Consumer power is one of the greatest assets we have when it comes to

the fight to maintain our right to natural health. Interestingly, even

the sugar industry—as distinct from the artificial sweetener

industry—has seen the value of teaming up with a stevia supplier to

explore opportunities given the vast numbers of us that prefer natural

over synthetic ingredients

The Irish Health Trade Association

(IHTA) has initiated a campaign which aims to offset the damage done by

biased media in the field of natural health. Over the last few

years—timed perfectly with the arrival of a swathe of draconian European

laws on natural health—the amount of media claiming potential harm or

lack of effectiveness of natural products has been increasing. This is

indicative of more propaganda that aims to silence consumers, making

them more receptive of the draconian laws. The IHTA are challenging the

media about the way in which they portray comments from respected

professors and academics

and it is aiming to get more balanced coverage, particularly better

coverage of positive scientific studies, which are presently given

virtually no coverage in the mass media.

 

*Swine flu vaccine*

 

The issue of swine flu vaccination, for many of us, represents one of

the biggest challenges to our fundamental rights and freedoms. Public

consciousness on this issue is rising rapidly as many people grapple

with limited information and make decisions about whether or not to have

themselves—and their nearest and dearest—vaccinated. Now the vaccine has

been approved

by many regulators, it is about to be unleashed on the public

Given the small scale of trials to-date, it’s impossible to tell if

rare, potentially lethal adverse events may result. In the UK, chaos

over the HPV cervical cancer vaccine program has followed the death of a

14 year-old girl

who tragically collapsed and died hours after being given her shot.

Adding insult to injury, another vaccinated child, one of many who

subsequently developed paralysis and weakness, is sadly threatened with

being taken into care

after social workers accused her mother of ‘inventing’ her daughter’s

symptoms.

 

Events such as these will undoubtedly have a big effect on what

decisions members of the public make when it comes to the imminent,

global swine flu vaccination program. Many people are now re-thinking

and re-evaluating their choices about whether to vaccinate or not. In

our view, our ability to have a choice should remain a basic human

right, and the availability of reliable, accurate and complete

information in order to make an informed choice, is of equal and vital

importance.

 

Concerns over vaccination programs becoming compulsory are causing

people to take to the streets
