Guest guest
What is your favorite way to package your salt and sugar scrubs? I usually put mine into wide mouth jars (I'm slowly converting from glass to plastic for liability purposes). I've heard of some folks using Malibu Tubes, but how the heck do you get the scrub into them? Do y'all thin them down considerably? Mine are too thick to fit into the small necks of Malibu Tubes or other bottles of that nature ... *Smile* Chris (list mom) Last Chance In 2004 For Sale Pricing On Foamer Bottles and Square Window Lid Tins <http://www.alittleolfactory.com/> http://www.alittleolfactory.com
Guest guest
Most of my scrubs are in the plastic contessa jars ... since they are clear folks can see the contents (I like to use cranberry, raspberry, strawberry, etc. seeds for color). The opening is wide enough for access and the shape is easy to hold if hands are wet. I use the wide-mouth frosted double-wall for my mocha & oats scrub but it's not as oily. In a swap last year I got a salt scrub in a malibu tube ... it was very awesome. The scrub was very creamy and the tube had a .25 opening. My current formula probably wouldn't work in them. Guest guest
I tried the double walled tubs, but they leaked Or the scrub set like cement.. Guest guest
Thanks for the input Linda, Do you use a special sealing disk in the lid of the contessa jars to keep them from leaking during shipping? I'm going to use the latch lid PET bale jars for the large size, but not sure what I want to do about the smaller sizes (like for holiday gift " sampler packs " ). Also, when you got the scrub in the malibu tube .. was it significantly thinner than the stuff we get (and make) in the jars .. more like a body polish consistency - I'm thinking like the thickness of a shower gel with some sort of grit in it? *Smile* Chris (list mom - off to do some experimenting) It's The Great Pumpkin Progressive Auction! Guest guest
Chris, My contessa jars do have a sealing disc but if I'm shipping them I wrap each jar in plastic wrap (Saran wrap). I've been lucky to have no leaks. [knocking on wood] I've also used the new 'Press 'n Seal'. It works but was incredibly time consuming until I got a circle cutter that really works. About the scrub in the tube ... it was thinner than the body polish I make but that's what I'd probably call it. Thicker than a gritty shower gel though. I had the formula but can't find it now ... it contained some chemicals that I didn't want to work with (or use) on a continuing basis. I kept thinking I could create the same consistency ... then got bored. HTH ... Linda Wallen
