Guest guest
Sally, Just who did they pay this $2000.00 to????? I've never heard of such a thing and we homeschool my Grandson Devin. He's in 7th grade this year and all we have ever paid is tuition of $50 to our Umbrella School (protects against State intervention). We live in Tennessee and if you are under an Umbrella School, which has medical and religious exemptions, the State can't say anything to us. Guest guest
When I taught at our local charter school, we had several homeschoolers that attended music and art classes. I know from them that when it came to high school level there was a higher fee for something, just can't remember what I loved those home schoolers, they where the best behaved of the bunch and very self motivated. All got accepted to major Colleges. C-M
Guest guest
In what state does your friend reside? I've been homeschooling for five years and I'm on several homeschooling , some of them nation wide. I've never heard of these fees. I have heard of problems with state Child Protective Services here in Texas who try to reinterpret existing homeschool legalizing laws. Sometimes individuals don't understand homeschooling and try to intimidate parents, perhaps this caseworker is one of these individuals? As I understand it, the state writes the law regarding homeschooling, not the county. This site has state by state guideline of the homeschool-related laws: http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp HTH, Pamela Blackkat [blackkat] Thursday, September 16, 2004 5:55 AM OT-Homeschool fees???
