Guest guest
Although last week I wrote asking advice about a horse wreck I'd had..I didn't get an answer, so took things into my own hands <vbg> My wreck was Monday morning.. Tuesday morning my face was so swollen and ugly. My left eye lid was so swollen, I had trouble seeing out of it. My face was horrible gross. It looked like a melting wax statue. When I saw the (second) ER doc, he gave me a sample of Bacitracin zinc ointment. He also told me it'd take about 3 to 4 weeks for my face to heal. I used that ointment for a couple days along with some aloe vera gel. To wash, I'd slowly painfully crawl into the showdr and let the water wash down my face as it was very painful to touch.. as soon as I could, I started using a bar of my soap to wash with, both in the shower and one other time a day to wash the grime and grit off. When it started to scab I'd bite open a vitamin e capsule and smeared that on..along with dabbing the aloe gel on. My face was healed in 7 days from the crash.. it's now 10 days post wreck and I have new pink skin on the left side of my face and across my nose. I'll continue the vit e/aloe treatment and will use sunscreen daily. I also have a wound on the back of my hand where the reins burnt through.. a leather burn is not pretty either! :-O I used the vit e and aloe on it..it's not healing as nicely, it's a lot deeper that the face stuff. I've been using some homemade salve on my hand too... Candy... I'd really get a derma-doc to look at you. It sounds kind of scary to handle alone. best of luck to you!! Guest guest
Rosie, Sorry to hear of your accident! I don't think I saw that post. Although, that's not unusual.... has a tendency to 'eat' messages occasionally. Or I just missed it! Sounds like you are doing just what needed to be done! Glad to hear you are doing better. Keep up the good work! I guess I will have to break down and go to the doc.....I just hate to go. But, I've been going to doctors for almost 2 years now, due to a car accident I had. SO....I've been seeing so many doctors for that, that I am sick of going to them. Not that they are bad....just that I am tired of driving 1 to 1 1/2 hours ONE WAY to see them every so often. Not to mention the 6 rounds of physical therapy that I have gone through. <sigh> Anyway, hope you continue to heal well. Keep us informed!
