Using Silk

Hi Folks,

I am wondering if anyone here uses silk in their lotions and other

toiletries? It is an ingredient I have been curious about using for a

while, and really want to try it out. I just figured I'd see if anyone

here would be willing to share and tips and techniques about using it ..

and of anyone would like to trade a wee bit of something I have for a

wee bit of silk you have so I can try it out ;)

Hey Chris,

I have some hydrolized silk and some fibers. I use the fibers in the lye

solution for my lavender silk, rosemary silk and calendula silk soaps. I

think it adds a luxury feel to the suds.

I make some lotions and use the liquid silk. I like the after feel it

leaves just after you put the lotion on. It does feel very smooth. I used

1% in my last batch and it turned out quite nice.

I can send you a smidge of both to try out if you like. :)

Hi Chris,

I use silk in soap--just a pea-sized ball of tussah (raw) silk cloth, shredded

into the fibers and tossed into the lye right

after I mix it. I have plenty if you want some ~winks~ I'm thinking you tried

this years ago tho.

Hugs,

Deb

Hey Chris,

I have been using liquid silk (dang if I can remeber the " right "

name for it) in my lotions, creams and elixirs, just because some of

the best commercial face products I have used, had silk in it. But -

the last batch of face cream I made, I descided to try my new liquid

soy protein instead and let me tell you, I really think there is a

difference. Can't sustain it scientifically, but the way that cream

feels on the skin is wayyyyy above the ones I made before. And since

I didn't change much else in the reciepe (exept for the EO's), I'm

convinced that the soy protein did the trick.

I know that some people are allergic to soy, but luckily I'm not one

of them :-D

Fragrant Blessings,

Ylva
