Guest guest
My SO is " significant other " maybe thats an older term. We tried calling to ourselves as " partners " but that became confused with other meaning too. How about " lovers " -- that works!! I was married to an AF officer for 28 years then we felt that was as much fun as any two people should have and we went our own ways. I moved to CO for graduate school and met Bob -- the love of my life. Some times I feel like a silly school girl -- but why not!! We are both 57.and have been together for 5 years. Yes he got a " package " from IBM. At first it was to be 13 weeks, he sighed the lay off papers, and then they changed it to 8 week -- he is fighting that. Yes he will get some retirement but only part of it -- he has to wait until 62 to get most of it. IBM has a paper that you have to sign saying that they can change their mind about bennies at any time -- . Just love corporate stuff. From what I've been told, this use to be a great company to work for, but things have changed over the years. Oh well!! BTW -- we both have sons named Chris and both of them in the AF. My son is in Dayton and his is the Person Gulf somewhere. Rita " Pittstown Soapworks, LLC " <guinness97 wrote: Yep - so is my husband, but not me! lol Ouch about your SO (is that son?)! Didn't he get the retirement benefits because of his age/service combination? I got offered a " package " (HAH! What a joke), but my age/service only add up to 62, so I wouldn't have gotten retirement bennies.....still waiting. Cindy - Be glad you still not laid off. Bob my SO was laid off last month after 23 years at IBM -- but so have a number of others in his age range (57) Rita

I should have known the term.....I'm sorry.......been somewhat brain-farted lately (hope that term doesn't offend anyone here--lol) since they upped my hours at work and less time to play and make my wares! I suppose from the description of Bob you could also have called him your SM, but that sounds kinda kinky. lol BTW - I HATE corporate BE......to use Butch's term. I got an email from him, also BTW - he sounds like he's having a blast.
