Guest guest
Kathy, Sure wish I'd known you were coming through! I am from Chattanooga TN, even though I live in Alabama.... I could have met you for coffee! Sorry I missed ya! Hope you had a good time at the yard sale! My dh and I just returned from the world's largest yard sale. It started in Covington, KY and goes all the way through KY, TN, AL and GA. We started at the top and went all the way to Chattanoga, TN. There was lots to see but what I was hoping for was an herbalist or at least books on herbs and aromatherapy and none were around. I thought for sure that in the hills/mountains there would be someone but alas there was none. I did happen upon a wonderful product called " Bee Bar " has anyone every heard of this and can I get a recipe for it? Any help would be wonderful. Guest guest
I had a great time although the bargains weren't to be found for me. I work with massage oils, bath salts and the like and I was looking for books, info, glassware and a cabinet to store my oils in. I had no luck but got to spend time with the better have and I love every minute of it. We have been married for 19 years and this is the first vacation we have had without the kids with us. I loved every minute of it. Kathy - C. Lucas 8/12/2004 10:38:44 PM OT: Kathy and Longest Yard Sale Kathy, Sure wish I'd known you were coming through! Guest guest
Glad to hear it! Sorry you didn't find what you were looking for..... Although, had you travelled a bit farther down, you MIGHT have found something..... Take care, Candy - " RICHARD L HOHLER " <kat964 Thursday, August 12, 2004 11:08 PM RE: OT: Kathy and Longest Yard Sale > I had a great time although the bargains weren't to be found for me. Guest guest
I've seen the " yard sale " on TV, and have wondered about it. Bob (my SO) is big into yard sales and one of his " goals " it to go to this one. Would you do it again? Guest guest
Rita, I've never drove a really long distance through this yard sale, but boy it sure can get crowded! From what I've seen, you can find some good stuff, inexpensively....and then other times, you will find crappy stuff, at outrageous prices. But, you know what they say..... another man's trash.... I don't know if I'd ever drive too far through the sale....but I don't really like being in crowds....so that's the major drawback for me. Guest guest
Yes, but I think that I would be there for the end/last day if I could. Most of the folks said they really mark it down so they don't have to pack it up and return home with it. If you like flea markets and know what you are looking for and really know the prices you would be ok. Some of the stuff looked like they had brought it in from the backyard and priced it and some had price stickers from some antique shops. I think I could have completed a set of 24 glasses (no particular pattern) from almost every stop as some folks only had one or two of each and with patience the set would have been mine for pennies. I'm very cheap when it comes to some things. Kathy - Rita Bohn 8/13/2004 12:38:31 PM RE: OT: Kathy and Longest Yard Sale I've seen the " yard sale " on TV, and have wondered about it. Guest guest
Actually, there wasn't too many crowds. Nice and orderly always polite and friendly. Really will do this again, just not next year. Kathy - C.
