Guest guest
Hi Tara, Lavender, rose and chamomile usually makes a nice relaxing blend ... Lavender and rosemary is a nice combo too, but watch how much rosemary you use at it can overpower easily! Most anything that has tea tree in it is going to smell medicinal *lol* ... but I do make foot products with a combination of peppermint and tea tree and the peppermint blends well with tea tree and does a good job of masking its medicinal scent. Ylang Ylang is a heavy floral and just a drop will do you in almost any blend. Peppermint is strong like that too, but in a minty way Frankincense and lemon blend nicely, maybe with a hint of rosemary added? You need to add some warm and " base note " type oils in the collection now, such as ginger, cinnamon leaf, atlas cedarwood, patchouli .... I bet we can come up with some more ideas for you, and even a few exact recipes .. but at the moment I'm not in the blending room right now, and I have to run and do some errands before it gets too late today ... Have a great weekend and happy blending! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com Tara Hall [my3monkeyz] Thanks for the welcome! Guest guest
Thank you all for your suggestions. I just ordered the Aromatherapy for Dummies books so I can learn a bit more. I guess in time I will sort of figure out which oils are strong and which ones tone them down a little. Until then my family will just have to put up with it . Does anyone know of a place that I can get blended oils (that smell good) to use in my diffuser? I know it is really tricky to find a good source to get oils from. I fugure this group would be able to point me in the right direction! Thanks for everything! Guest guest
Hi Tara, I just did a blend.....it wasn't for a diffuser....but for an herbal body wrap....and I thought it was really pleasant. I did 1/2 and 1/2 of lavender and peppermint. The lavender really relaxed my body, while the peppermint stimulated my brain. Came up with some really good ideas, while lounging in my body wrap! It did smell a bit medicinal to me.....but I think lavender does smell medicinal.....so that's where that came from. Perhaps use a smaller amount of lavender with the peppermint...... Ylang Ylang gives me one outrageous headache.....I think it smells akin to a sewer! PEW! But I know many folks that like it. Just isn't my thing I guess. I love any combination with the citrus EO's. Very invigorating. Reminds me of a nice summer day. Hope this helps you a bit! Candy
