Guest guest
Pam Just wondering if anyone would have a recipe that I can make a detox for my horse? I'm in the transition period of trying to go from shoes, to barefoot - I've been told that the following herbs would be beneficial, but have no clue as to how much of each - any help would be appreciated chaparrel, fennel, fenugreek, licorice, and skullcap - these are supposed to cleanse or detoxify the bowels, kidneys and lymph system - and lungs. thanks! Pam Hi Pam I do a few consults a week on this in conjunction with a barefoot specialist. What we have found works best is a simple approach ….(and only speaking from my own experience) depending on the horse … either St Marys Thistle Seed Powder (Silybum marianum) or Dandelion Root Powder (Taraxacum officinale) Supporting with Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) combined with Cleavers or Clivers (Galium aparine) or Dandelion leaf some horses will get sore initially so we often support as needed with either White Willow Bark Powder (Salix alba) or Meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria), usually don’t go to as strong Devils claw as we wish to monitor this and if client is not diligent with dose they often mask what may be happening. so all up, 3 or 4 herbs from this group usually achieve what we need. regards Catherine Author ~ A Healthy Horse the Natural Way http://www.catherinebird.com.au Keep up to date with natural therapies for horses with our monthly online newsletter at catherinebird/ Is your equine massage therapist qualified?
