Guest guest
Hi Serra and everybody. This is my favorite mint oil. It's not as sweet smelling as m. piperita and I have noticed that it's not generally considered as high quality as piperita, and the price is usually less, but for some reason I like it better! I love that strong menthol freshness, and I don't like the over-sweet (to me) candy smell of piperita. I often diffuse it half and half with petitgrain and the combination is so refreshing. As far as medical uses, I'm not very up on this, but I believe that generally m. piperita is recommended over m. arvensis for children and the elderly because it is " milder " . I live in Japan, and when I buy EOs from a company here I have noticed this variety is called cornmint or Japanese mint. (In Japanese it's called " hakka " and commonly used in some old fashioned J. hard candies). So that's my two cents out of lurkdom! Barbara (please post any replies on the oils board since I'm not at home in Japan right now, but in Washington State USA, home of Yakima peppermint! (which is m. piperita again, but still nice.)
