Guest guest
I got this hint from my costco magazine - Your business name. Is it going to hurt you or help you...3 questions to ask yourself: 1. Does it clearly identify what you do? For example, while I thought the name Smellennium was clever (smell + millenium as it was founded in 2000), no one knew what it meant... therefore I lost some business that I otherwise might have gained. 2. Does it distinguish you from your competition... well, Smellennium was certainly different! LOL! 3. Is it easy to spell, to pronounce and to remember? Smellennium? Are you KIDDING... no one could spell it, the people who tried to pronounce it had their tongues tripping all over the place and therefore people had a nigh unto impossible time of remembering it. So. All in all Smellennium was a bad choice... >sigh< although I still miss it! ;-) If after giving your business name this small test, you find it lacking... Don't do what I did, which was to dump the name at one go and come up with a new one, but hold on to the old one and use the new one as a tag line or slogan until it gains recognition... Hope this helps! ;-) K Cheers! Kathleen Petrides The Woobey Queen Our Candles are the Cat's Meow! http://www.fatcatcandleco.com
