Hi, They tried to get him to drink Soy milk, but smart kid wouldn't have

anything to do with it..lol

Besides he's diabetic, and the added sugar ( It's either in it or they had

to add it ?) wasn't a good idea.

A lavender massage was tried and the poor kid broke out in a rash..He slept

a little better but not by much, either that or his mom slept through it, I

do know that both are completely exhausted.

Tonight she is going to try cows milk, I really hope this works.. will let

you guys know.

Carol,

I used to make little dolls ( called them trolls, they where unisex)

and stuffed them with the usual stuffing , but also tuckeda little

bundle of chamomile, SJW and lavender in it..

To put into a babies bed. Also used to make little herbal pillows that

could be put into a regular pillow for sleeping aid.

My sewing machine is busted, or I would make him one..

This child must be supersensitive if he broke out from the lavender, but

than it depends on how much it was diluted and with what kind of

carrier oil, age of the oil, etc.etc.

Carol,

If it turns out that this child is super allergic ( I had one of those

children) and not gaining, than explore a formula that is called '

Nutramegan " or something similar.

It's expensive but it pulled my child from the brink of death. ( He

weighed 10 pounds when 11 month old and his body would not assimilate

food).

The Nutramegan is what pulled him out of it.

Carol,

My daughter had a terrible case of colic....and we went through a period

like this. The only way we were able to get any rest was to take turns

carrying her slung over our forearms.....

We'd lay her belly down on the forearm, with her head near our elbow, and

held her between her legs with our hand. :) A gentle swinging motion while

walking helped ease her pain, and allowed us to sleep.

Another thing we did with our second daughter, was we made an onion

extract.....

Take and chop an onion....a regular yellow one....add a couple of teaspoons

of sugar....and microwave. This will produce a juice.....strain the juice

and give about 1/4 of a tsp to the baby.

Soothed her right down. :)

I sure hope the baby does better. And the suggestion of Nutramigen formula

was a good one. I had a cousin that had to have this special formula.

I had colic as a child. First they tried goat's milk. They said I did ok but

it was hard to find and expensive (as a child of the early sixties I wouldn't

know) but the dr said if I would drink cow's milk let me have it. I made a

formula of boiled water, powdered milk and Karo corn syrup for my kids because

they had trouble with formula. Kathy from Ohio

Carol.

I just remembered we had to put our daughter on goat's milk as she could not

tolerate formulas or whole cow's milk. It has been 22 years ago! :)

Will keep saying prayers for all.

first...She kills me, lol

I have forwarded on your email, so she can check it out... I've never heard

of your formula recipe, I think it's kinda neat.. I think she will too...

These suggestions are terrific...Judith will be one pleased mamma when she

reads her emails tonight.

Thank you all on behalf of Judith, I told her that this list was the best,

maybe now she'll join..

Judith always has onions lying around, I will get her to make some up and

try it in the middle of the night.

And, I'm going to keep a copy of all these emails in a file, these are

terrific ideas, and most I have never heard of..

You guys are the BEST.

I love this idea, I have a sewing machine here, I will whip one up for him

( the pillow that is, that's about all I can handle)..

His sisters have super sensitive skin, one of the daughters is actually

allergic to chicken., so they all switched to vegetables and soy products.

Christmas is a riot, they buy Tofu from this lady, and she shapes it into a

turkey, it's a scream...

I'm hoping that he has a good nights sleep soon, everytime I call, which is

about 3-4 times per day, he is always crying in the background and it breaks

my heart.

Thanks again for a terriffic idea, will let you know how it turns out.

just a thought here, but have you thought of trying chamomile tea?

a former german friend once gave me a product that she

had her mom send her from germany just for colic that contained

chamomile tea blend. this little one may not have colic but

the tea sure couldn't hurt to try. might do them all some

good to sip a cup. also they might try a soothing children's lullaby

tape or classical music. could just be that it gets too quiet for the

baby. over stimulated children often show this kind of behavior also.

an alternative to the bach essence are the flower essence from

www.greenhopeessences.com

they don't use alcohol as a stablilizer. they use organic red shiso.

for those worried about the alcohol content, this might be the way to

go.

and just to throw out another site that may be of interest to pet owners,

www.anaflora.com

hope something helps soon.

Hi,

Two more formulas--one is Alimentum.

There's also a formula called Neocate--my ped suggested that if I would have had

to take my reg meds and not breast feed. Fortunately, didn't have to use it

'cause it is super-expensive. However! This is the top-of-the-line, last

resort stuff. If this doesn't work, you might even want to try looking into a

milk bank. There have been cases where the only thing that worked was human

milk (this is very rare).

I can ID w/ allergies/colic/screaming-baby-won't-sleep syndrome. All of my kids

have atopic problems/asthma. I even had to do an elimination diet with them

because of them being sensitive to what I ate and it filtering into my milk.

I had to:

give a lukewarm bath--absolutely no hot water--for no longer than 10 minutes,

massage w/ Cetaphil, Moisturel, or Eucerin cream, and put them in cotton

clothing that had been washed in hot water, hypoallergenic detergent, w/ baking

soda, and then rinse with vinegar and then rinse again with just water.

Absolutely nothing with fragrance in it--no shampoo, soap, fabric softener,

detergent, powder, cream, lotion--nothing. Fragrance is a big, big, big

sensitizer. I wish somebody would slam the baby product companies for this.

Babies don't need the " baby smell " fragrance. You cannot find a single baby

wash/shampoo on the market that is fragrance-free ('cept in the health food

store).

Aveeno body wash is good (the fragrance free kind) and so is Cetaphil

cleanser--the liquid kind. I'd try the latter first. The Cetaphil is kind of

weird because it doesn't have all the sudsing agents, might make you think

nothing's getting clean! It's also good because you can smear it on and then

wipe it off with a damp cloth. It leaves the skin clean but soft.

Check out the diapers--I had to use cloth diapers on my latest edition because

the disposable had aloe vera (why, why would they put this in a diaper???) in it

and my son had a horrible reaction to it. He was probably sensitized to it from

a cream I had made him that had aloe vera gel in it. The dermatitis started

where his diaper was and then spread within a matter of minutes to the rest of

his little body. We only slept 'cause we got permission from the ped to give

him a little Benadryl (also stopped the reaction). Unfortunately, dermatitis is

capable of that, so even if someone breaks out all over, it could have been

something minor and in just one area to begin with.

Try running the vacuum cleaner--I have no idea why, but it can work. I've also

put my small folk in their car seat and ran several loads in the washing machine

(dryers even better) with them on top of it (always attended for safety's sake).

Put them right out.

I don't remember if anybody mentioned but have you thought about GERD? I've

read that many babies will be screaming their head off because of baby

heartburn. They have to have very small but very frequent feedings, no lying

flat for sleeping--especially after eating, and sometimes a little thickening of

their food w/ a small amount of rice cereal (it's not for making them

sleep--helps out the tummy). A lot of kids get underdiagnosed with this. My

son had it and he spit up A LOT. Even if he had been sleeping for a while, he'd

spit up in his sleep and start to choke on it...it'd even come through his nose.

He's growing out it now.

Sorry this is so long--I just wanted to put down everything I could think of. I

hope everything works out well.

Although I adore lemon balm, in this case I am not sure about it's

effects..for lemon balm can also be a sensitizer.

it's more a virus fighter and calmer for women...

catnip would work, but it's not great tasting, might add some honey and

lemon.

About the chamomille and older sister.

All my life I have used chamomille without ill effects. Than one day I

used chamomille bags from the store on my eyes and got a terrible

reaction, both eyes swelled shut and it took a dousing of benadryl to

get over it.

That year I also reacted severely to ragweed and other weeds, plantain,

a daily dose of honey every day from my area helped me to overcome that.

and I keep up with the honey. Every day a spoonful from a local beekeeeper.*

Stayed away form chamomille for years because of that event.

Tried again after a few years with homegrown chamomille and am Ok with

that now and the EO of chamomille.

Am convinced that the tea bags I got had other stuff in , besides

chamomille. I remember it being an italian import ( blue box with

chamomille flowers on it).

That was many years ago, about 15, but I sure remember that box :)

C-M

* the honey will do nothing if you are having an attack.

But if you start taking a spoonful of honey from your area ( that is the

important part), months before the pollen season comes, it can help .

Your body learns to slowly fight off the sensitizers instead of having

to fight off all in a big onslaught.

I didn't know that, I think I'm going do a search for hive owners, since I

don't know of any local ones..I hear that the honey from New Zealand ? is

pretty good, so If I can't find it local, I know where I can buy that one. I

think I will start myself on that, as well as my kids... can't do any harm.

Thanks for this....

Were off to the faire, and bid thee well Fine maidens...

Kids can't wait, its gonna be a blast , especially when my 4 year old see's
