I've decided I can't live like this. I'm going to talk to the quack about all the advice I got from you guys and see what she has to say... so thanks to all of you who shared. Guest guest
HI Kathleen I used to get terrible migraines every month and figure they were hormonal. I got them completely cured through acupuncture. But...a proper Chinese qualified acupuncturist. It was such a wonderful relief. Take care Ann - Scotland Okay, i've had these blinding headaches now for every day for at least the last three weeks, except for the odd day. Guest guest
When I get my migraines I will take 2 excedrin at the onset. Tylenol and Advil don't touch them, but the combo of the acetaminophen, aspirin, and caffiene seems to help alot. Good luck at the doctors. Guest guest
Hi, Kathleen. Have you tried some massage? I've worked with several clients who had intense migraines (my 81 yr old mother included) and massage helped them every time - at least providing some temporary relief. Especially on the upper back, neck and occiput. They also liked strong pressure on the head on different areas and on the temples. (My mother has had severe migraines for years and takes meds - won't even discuss not taking them at this age. According to her neurologist, her headaches are from muscle tension, and he has her on vaso-dilators and vaso-constrictors to prevent and/or stop them from happening. She lives out of state, but whenever she visits me i do massage on her neck and she gets a lot of relief. Unfortunately, she won't see anyone once she's home, although a few years ago she did, but then stopped.) You can combine some essential oils to use along with the massage. One blend I've used, originally made for sinus help, has also relieved headache in a couple of my clients - it has basil, eucalyptus glob., lavender, peppermint and cedarwood in a joboba base. I put a couple of drops on the back of the neck around C-7 on one of my clients, and she got instant relief. Of course, this all depends on what is causing your headache. Guest guest
Find out the cause. Treat for them. <g> Try to see if any are caused by specific triggers: hormones, allergies, neck/back issues. It's good if you can distinguish between a headache and a migraine, too. I've got migraines from all the above causes [and fibro]. Massage and ultrasound help enormously. I'm light and smell sensitive, so EOs don't work for me. Ice packs are good. One of the problems with headaches is they can re-bound when taking so many pain relievers. Had to go through a process of figuring out what meds would work. Turns out a small dose of Percocet is the answer- for me. Before menopause, when the majority were from hormones, it turned out better to go to bed & wait them out, rather than take too many meds. Again- that's my answer. I opted not to go the way of Imitrex... That might also be an answer. Last- I'm constantly dealing w/ pinched nerves in my neck, and am calling an acupuncturist after I sign this note. LOL Hope you feel better soon!! Deb , WoobeyQueen@a... wrote: > Okay, i've had these blinding headaches now for every day for at least the > last three weeks, except for the odd day. Guest guest
I myself use to get those headaches. I did not realise until 20 years later that it was all related to my sinuses. I never felt I had a sinus problem but that was what the headaches were from. I started to take sinus pills...like contact or sudefed, over the counter stuff. Low and behold my migrains went away. I did not read all the posts so someone may have mentioned this. Oh yes, Chocolate on those days would send me crying to my room in agony. Hope they stop for you....do know the pain.
