Guest guest
Hi, Just got off the phone with my girlfriend, her son hasn't slept more than an hour at a time for over a week now, and she's at her wits end. I suggested the usual...lavender on the pillow, warm bath before bed, massage before bed. switching to soya milk, to see if it's a cows milk allergy.. Oh and btw he's 13 months. Apparently, he gets up after an hour and sits on the floor and screams, they can calm him down for about 5 minutes then he's back on the floor again. Her daughter's have very sensitive skin, super sensitive, so she is going to change the sheets to another material, to try that.. They already use special washing powder, thats non allergenic. Has anyone else came across this? An appointment has been set up with the Doctor, but that's for Thursday, and the family could all kill each other by then..LOL... Any suggestions, would be greatly appreciated. Carol
Guest guest
Hi Carol, Is the baby starting to teethe maybe? I'd try the Hyland's homeopathic teething tablets and if teething is the cause it may help. Also, maybe baby will sleep for longer if mama give him a nice bath, a massage and then takes a nap with him? I bet mom could use the nap too Those are two things right off the top of my head! Good luck to her and the wee one *Smile* Chris (list mom - really off now to get a BUNCH of work done - oil oil everywhere and not a drop to drink ... wasn't that a line in The Albatross? *lol* Oh, wait, it was WATER in that poem - silly me ;-p <grinz>) http://www.alittleolfactory.com Carol Pearce [cjpearce] Hi, Just got off the phone with my girlfriend, her son hasn't slept more than an hour at a time for over a week now, and she's at her wits end. Guest guest
I know this is not ideal, but taking the baby to bed with them might just work for awhile. How exhausting this must be. If it's food or tummy discomfort, usually the baby will pull up it's legs, when having fits. If it's clothes, I highly recommend soft unbleached cotton. My girlfriend had children that had sensitive skin and she bought old flannel sheets, cut them up and made little soft clothes out of them./ I hope they find relief. My babies are grown ups now, but I remember those years C-m
Guest guest
Such good ideas, must be wonderful mommies out there. Has she tried rinsing the clothing and linens in vinegar rinse? Cuts the residue left by detergents and soaps. Also chamomile tea with peppermint may soothe the tummy and nerves. If afraid of sleeping in a bed with the child (I never was) a recliner works miracles. HTH, Jan S www.sweetprairiesoap.com jans
Guest guest
They just had a special on sleep disorders a month ago on tv and one of the things they showed was a young boy, about 3, that would fall asleep and then only sleep for an hour or two and wake up screaming! They discovered that he has sleep apnea. They say it's very under diagnosed. Some of the signs are very traumatic sleep, where people punch and hit, loud snoring (they showed an 8 year old girl snoring loudly) and very restless sleep with lots of movements in the bed. All these respond very quickly to the CPAP machine They showed the little boy and the girl wearing the machine and sleeping soundly throughout the night, from the very first night. The machine looks pretty unwieldily and they asked if it was uncomfortable to sleep with, but because it allows such restful sleep, no one minded it at all, not even the little boy. So, if they don't find anything else, have the baby checked for sleep apnea. (it was pretty scary looking when they hooked the little guy up to all the wires, but they are just sensors so didn't hurt him at all) samala Renee " tossed down to live among angels, who have forgotten what they are, I strive to remember " RLV 1998 ---- Hi, Just got off the phone with my girlfriend, her son hasn't slept more than an hour at a time for over a week now, and she's at her wits end.
