Guest guest
In the course of doing business there are inevitably times when we come across some " perpetually disgruntled " folks. This has happened to me on more than one occasion, but thankfully those occasions are far and few in between. An example for you. I had a customer inquire about a product I was carrying and was interested in purchasing it as long as it was not synthetic. I told her that it was not, as I have been dealing with the producer for some time, and experienced their product and was very satisfied with it, as well as the fact that it is a laboratory tested item and does not show to be synthetic and I also have a colleague from many years back who has dealt with this producer and visited their operation while on vacation in that region of the world. She received her item and proceeded to insist that the product must be synthetic because she apparently believes that she has a superior calibrated nose and she has asked others who evidently also have superior calibrated noses and they agree with her ... she says. Of course, if this is the case it could be due to the suggestion of what they should conclude about it, or maybe the pre-conditioning. The answers we get can easily be manipulated by the manner of the question that is asked. If she and her friends are right ... Then that means the lab analysis is wrong .. and I must be a schmuck with a lame nose ... or a crook. Everyone else who has purchased this product says they thoroughly enjoyed it .. some even raved about how happy they are with it. I suppose they too are just schmucks with lame noses. Goes to show that some people are either perpetually disgruntled or they just want to go on record with a complaint so they can later relate the complaint on their own little list and create the impression that those they complain about are not good suppliers ... but they are. This person has done this before with at least one other outstanding supplier I know. There is not a lot we can do about folks like that because the problem is within themselves ... not with others. Well, I suppose there is one other thing we can do - that is to defend ourselves on record too ... as I am doing with this post. Don't let customers like that get you down, just grin and go on and make sure that you warn all your other supplier buddies about them ;-p *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com

These type of people cause or make a fuss, because it makes them feel good...they think they know something/or see if they can drive you nutso;)...when really they are very insecure with themselves. And the one or two people that agree with these PDP(Perpetually Disgruntled People;) are just trying to be supportive to their insecure friend. :)Paula

Guest guest
Chris, I have to agree with you. I worked in retail for so long that I got " customer burnout " (my words) because many times the rules are not always followed by management to " keep the customer Happy " . I have found that a few people take this to extremes. They have found that the more noise they make the more the retailer will do to quiet them down. I have found that I can't work for someone that doesn't stand behind the employee when they are trying to follow the rules. I think that there should be a list so that when you do business with these kind of people that you know what you are up against. IMHO.
