Guest guest
Well, not REALLY at. I'm posting a couple of ideas I sent to someone today. I thought they might be of interest to others who are trying to get thier footing. Not for the established but for those just getting their feet wet. " One thing that might help... if you can find a " crafters outlet " of some type.. this is where you pay a certain amount a month to rent a space and put your stuff in their shop. Plus you will usually have to pay a commission (mine is 10% where I have some of my stuff). This can help a lot with exposure. And, may I suggest that you go ahead with the website anyway. It will give you added exposure and business will prolly be slow to start with anyway which will give you the time you need to get things going. You can take your time building it up, but just being there as a presence WILL help. If you don't want to start selling on the web yet, then by all means, just put up some good information. It will help you gain credibility and will bring in visitors. Also, join in swaps. That will also help you get a rep going to. If you have friends and family who are willing, give them a few samples to pass out to friends and co-workers. Another way to get things going. " There... back in my hole. We had a tradgedy here today. While out swamping out the chooks and Little Flock, the baby let the bird cage door open, one of the budgies flew out and my 16.5 year old cat got him. Baby was distraught and the girls didn't help. Poor little Hunny Bunny will prolly be traumatized. > sigh< Cheers! Guest guest
Woobey, Craft type stores, where one rents a booth etc, are very much on the decline, at least here in Oklahoma. Even the large craft events such as War Eagle have seen a major decline in crafts. Seems to be the same ole stuff. Do your homework before you sign up with a craft mall. Guest guest
It's obviously different the world over! I've got my soaps in a craft outlet, where we all use our own displays, pay a really reasonable rental and then a small commission, and it's my best outlet. But, I haven't seen many of them around.
