Just a side note to this. We live in Western Washington were we deal

with wetland issues ALL the time. (the property we are buying, in fact,

has over 50% wetlands). Washington is a state that believes strongly in

preserving wetlands. For good cause too. In an natural wetland

environment the mosquitoes is kept under control by natural predators

(bats, fish ect).

 

Having said all that.... the biggest help for the mosquitoes that are

known to carry/ pass on west nile virus is not wetlands, rivers or ponds

it is little pools/ puddles of water around peoples houses. So everyone

check around your house for old buckets, tires(these are the worst,

because they are warm too), plastic, anything that will hold sitting

water. Eliminate those and you will reduce the risk of contacting this

virus.
