Guest guest
Hi Chris and other beeswax users > Another good one is to get the beeswax unfiltered (it is so much cheaper > to buy it unfiltered) and then strain it through panty hose. I guess you mean melt down the block and then pour it into a container or mould through pantyhose? I read a tip ages ago about putting the beeswax block inside pantyhose, tying a knot in the hose, then dunking the lot into a bit pot of water. As the water heats, the filtered beeswax floats to the surface trapping impurities inside the hose. I was never game to try it because I was afraid water " pockets " might form in the beeswax but another soaper in Europe tried it a few months ago and was delighted witht the result. I normally do about 10 or 20kg at a time and she said she managed to do a 2kg chunk using this method. This will definitely be my preferred method next time.
