Guest guest
I bought some things from the health food store that is closing, I will list the items and I had thoughts of infusing some of these tea bag contents in oil for making salves and balms, tell me what you think of these great buys: St Johns Wort Feverfew leaf Chickweed (for exzema salve) EO's Burdock Root extract from root(1 oz) ? Jewelweed (liquid extract from fresh herbs) Clary Sage Oil Hemp Seed Oil So if anyone knows what salves would these items be good for I would appreciate the info, you can email me personally, if you want martismith50 Marti
Guest guest
Marty, Sounds like you got a nice deal.. However, SJW is not much good dried, unless used as tea and even than marginally. The potency all depends on when it is picked. I use clary sage in a cream with geranium for help with menopause flashes. But also used the EO. Guest guest
Marti, If you want the SJW for nerves it's Ok to use the tea or pills. But for it's other beneficial healing qualities, like pain and skin healing, it's best to have fresh infused SJW oil. One infuses the blossoms into olive oil when they are ready*. Ready means when the SJW blossom leaves a purple stain on your fingers when rubbed. Dried blossoms usually do not have much potency. About planting SJW for oil, be warned it takes a lot of blossoms for the oil, it's one of those herbs that are better when wild crafted,.If you live in an area where they grow, scope out the fields for their yellow blossoms. They are about to pop in Michigan. a little slower than usual, we've hard a cold and rainy summer so far. C-M * Pick the blossoms on a dry warm day ( after you have tested them) and stuff into a glass jar. I let them wilt for an hour or so. Fill the jar with olive oil, topping off the flowerheads. Put out into the sun. After a few days you will have a beautiful red oil. Strain through an unbleached coffee filter into smaller bottles.
