OK - I wasn't there! but I understand that this is a reliable site. > There is a lot that our countries have done in the past that we can rightly be > ashamed of. But I will defend my country when I think there are stories being > passed around that inflame feeling against us. True it is that 230-240 years ago norms were a bit different than they are today .. but also true that there was a British feller in Vincennes, Indiana named Colonel Henry Hamilton who was known as the " Hair Buyer " because he purchased the scalps of American Colonists. And guess what? This started BEFORE the Revolutionary War. Go half way down to " George Rogers Clark and The Battle of Vincennes " http://www.americanrevolution.com/RevolutionaryWarBattles2.htm For the Americans or others who might be interested .. George Rogers Clark was one of the greatest American heroes .. he and that band of Kentucky and Ohio volunteers that captured Vincennes (and other British outposts of the time) were supermen in every regard. I've read a half dozen books on his exploits .. but this particular battle took up an entire volume .. and it was magnificent. The entire Clark family were American heroes. :-) > I hope all of you across that BIG pond (and those of you there in your thoughts) > had a wonderful weekend. Thank you ma'am .. and you. :-) > Ann - Scotland Y'all keep smiling. Butch
