Guest guest Posted July 2, 2004 Report Share Posted July 2, 2004 No not really its still a sink hole, if anyone does remember the Catskills or you saw the movie dirty dancing its nothing like that anymore, the only ratpack you see are the four legged kind running around the abandoned houses people have bought up in the past 10 years with the promise of gambling, even Howie Mandel stopped coming to the run down resorts -all hope seemed lost but now.......... we got our long awaited gambling except somewhere in the plan the Indian tribes got well ------- but the once hopping mighty M harness race track has opened again and it is now a racine (racing and slot machines) watch out Mr. Trump- Pataki threw us a bone. Now it is a local custom to go to the race track on the 4th and place $1 bets on the fixed races( yes they are) lose but you can bring the kids eat ice cream and wait for a really great fire works display- not this year, no fireworks:( We, like most locals are going to BBQ stay off RT 17 and light some sparklers. Can't wait till the end of July when the Woodstock crowd comes- the " other " Woodstock there is two in case anyone is planning a trip. Happy 4th of July!!!!
