Hi Kathy, Melissa, All :)

The I.F.R.A. (International Fragrance Association)

http://www.ifraorg.org/ in 1981 recommended that Verbena Oil (Lippia

citriodora Kunth) be prohibited from use as a fragrance in skin products

due to its potential to be hazardous to the skin (from

photosensitization to irritation and sensitization). Their

recommendation is listed on this page ..

http://www.ifraorg.org/GuideLines.asp .. scroll down the contents list

on the left hand side and at the bottom you'll find Verbena. Click on it

to see the info :)

Just seems like an oil better used in the diffuser :-D

According to Kathi Keville & Mindy Green " Lemon Verbena - Similar in

fragrance and cost to melissa, lemon verbena is often adulterated with

less expensive oils. It is used on oily complexions and for nervous

indigestion. The soothing fragrance encourages both sleep and

concentration. " Nope nothing there about skin irritation. Maybe the

adulterated part is were the problem is. Kathy, OH

Is lemon verbena a skin irritant? My mother insists she has a body

moisturizer that contains lemon verbena oils.

Thanks,

Melissa

Hello Chris,

I read the Verbena advice on the IFRA-list, but under " non-skin contact " it

also is written: 0.

Meaning: not to be used at all? So probably not to be diffused either???

I do not use this oil, just wondering ....

greetings from Boa
