Yes, lemon verbena is a skin irritant.

But since the real oil is so rare, it's probably just an FO in the

lotion.

According to Kathi Keville & Mindy Green " Lemon Verbena - Similar in fragrance

and cost to melissa, lemon verbena is often adulterated with less expensive

oils. It is used on oily complexions and for nervous indigestion. The soothing

fragrance encourages both sleep and concentration. " Nope nothing there about

skin irritation. Maybe the adulterated part is were the problem is. Kathy, OH

Is lemon verbena a skin irritant? My mother insists she has a body moisturizer

that contains lemon verbena oils.

Melissa and David,

Actually I have a lotion that was purchased for me as a gift from <gasp>

Bath and Body Works. In this lotion, they do have Lemon Verbena Extract.

It's their Purely Silk Body Lotion, Coconut Lime Verbena scent. :) It is

listed as follows: Lippia Citriodora (Lemon Verbena) Flower Extract.

Is the extract considered to be irritating? I haven't had a problem with

this lotion. And had thought of trying to get an extract myself for my

lotions. :)

Anyone know?

Thanks,

Candy
