Pictures. People LOVE to look at pictures to get some idea of what they will be getting. Also, are you selling/catering to JUST the people in Alaska? Your main page suggests that. Have you got an FAQ? How about a " Guest Book? " Do you have something for people to read? Articles and the like. How about something " fun " so that people want to stay or come back for. Have you got a page of exchanged links? Have you registered with Dmoz? How about Google? Do you have your keywords up as well? For each page? Back to me candles, I prolly didn't help at all, but DO think about pictures, they REALLY help a lot. Hugs K Cheers! Guest guest
P.S. Do you exchange business cards with anyone. Sometimes you can find people who will help by sending out YOUR business card if you agree to send out THEIRS with orders. It helps NOT to do it with a competitor but a complimentory or even totally diverse business. Putting skates on now! ;-) K Cheers! Guest guest
Hey Everyone, I have had my business website up since 2004. Over the years I have revised it but still do not get more than 2 or 3 orders per year. My request is to look at the website and make suggestions on improvements. http://www.aheavenlybody.com Also if anyone does website design, maybe you could come up with a proposal that I can look at with the prices that I would be charged? Currently I use a WYSIWYG editor because I can not do HTML or any of the newer programming languages used for websites. Guest guest
Hiya Cheryl, I agree with Kathleen, Pictures, promotion, and if you want to focus on Alaska buyers, then you have to get onto the e-mailing lists with Alaskan buyers, and get your link on Alaska interest web pages .... A few things I've been meaning to do on my web site when I get some time is - " Customer Testimonials " - got a ton of them, and folks like to have such things to reference if they are trying something new - esp. when buying from a magazine or TV screen. Also, a guest book, and lastly - some articles and all. I put a few archived newsletters .. its a start A few folks on here do web work. I believe our floppity bunny rabbit posted about it the other day. Y'all should hook up and chat! remember, our group chat room is always open if that helps make life easier! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com Cheryl Smith [female_tigress] Hey Everyone, I have had my business website up since 2004. Yes pictures are going to go on the front page and the catalog is going to become much more acceptable. Yes I am going to focus on Alaska buyers mostly because of the shipping problems we face, and I am on many of the local lists, newspapers, buying guides, etc., for up here but that is something I will look into further as more and more are coming out everyday. > > A few things I've been meaning to do on my web > site when I get some time > is - " Customer Testimonials " - got a ton of > them, and folks like to have > such things to reference if they are trying > something new - esp. when > buying from a magazine or TV screen. Yes I have received info from Floppity Bunny Rabbit, love that name! Still trying to do it myself because I am of those that like creating it. I just wish I could learn HTML or some of the other website design stuff but no matter how many courses I take it just doesn't stick!! So I still use a WYSIWYG editor. Thanks everyone for all the wonderful ideas that have been posted here and sent to me privately. I truly appreciate them all. ===== Cheryl Smith A Heavenly Body Anchorage AK 99508 (907) 222-0886 http://www.aheavenlybody.com Mail is new and improved - Check it out! Guest guest
Hey Kathleen, You are always in the " flying mode " ! Thanks for the reply. Yes I wish to sell to Alaskans mainly...and that is why the main page says so but I also need to rewrite that entire page and add pictures...as some have suggested - give it some 'life' or 'oomph'. FAQ is in progress and no on the guest book but will look into it. The only thing for reading is an Aromatherapy Information section that is pretty thorough but very dry. I am also going to look into adding a forum like this one: http://www.blackpawdesigns.com/forums/ Yes to the exchanged link area and quite a number I don't exchange links with like Butch's site. I want everyone to know how wonderful his oils are! Keywords are on each and every page and those are done as I build each page. I am registered with and do updates frequently of all the main and some not so well known search engines. I get really good hits but not many sales. The low sales tells me that I am doing something wrong and I need to fix it and as I have had the same problem through 4 revamps it is my style, therefore the question. I really appreciate the comments I have received from so many on this list and the people who have sent the request on to others...now that was super nice!! All the comments were constructive and many ppl said the same things so now I know what I need to do. Again thanks, Cheryl Smith Anchorage AK

The name and logo are pretty familiar to ppl up here but figure I also must come up with some unique stuff to offer my Alaskan buyers.
