Guest guest
Well, it's been an interesting weekend. Friday evening, my son and I went and picked up our two new budgies. I namned mine Fergus. Cute little thing, nicknamned " Bitey Baby " . He's going to take some serious training. Then yesterday we went to the Alameda County fair and came home with 2 chooks (hopefully both are hens, they are teenagers and I did my best to pick nothing with an already apparent comb) and a duckling. As mentioned the pullets are half grown and in no need of Lamps, extra heat etc. but the duckling is another story. He/she had heat lamps in the pen that he (for now) was in and is only owning down. He was already swimming and everything, the lamps were there for extra heat. For now his name is " Flock " . He's adopted me as his flock. Literally. I go outside and he's calling for his flock. Take him inside, he either sleeps on my leg or up my sleeve or sits on my shoulder and nibbles my earring. He's a little doll. He got out of his basket early this morning (I brought him in to keep him out of the night and morning chill) when I went to check on him and put him back out with the girls, fortunately he DOES think of me as his flock and came to me when he heard me calling him. Last night and today we slept together on the sofa. He's been a little gentleman and has had only one little accident, which was easy to clean off. If he's not seen me for a while, he starts calling for his " flock " and after awhile I have to go out and get him. I'm trying to figure out what he is... so far my choices are between a Khaki Cambell and an Indian Runner. Will have to wait for the feathers to put in appearance. Never had a duckling before and never had a bird that had decided I was his flock. Silly little thing. Well that's the update! K Cheers!
