Morning Martin,

the ABC I mentioned is the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. It is the

equivalent of the BBC without any offshoots. Their researchers have a great

deal of credibility and the programme Landline (Thanks Dennis, had forgotten the

name) is information about farming techiniques and product. It is very much

government owned.

Quite frankly, I would trust them sooner than various well-known authors as they

do not have a 'position of expert power' to maintain. The information that was

broadcast was not several years ago, but current. So your authority quoted is a

little out of date.

Sandalwood is still controlled, as far as I am aware in Western Australia and

CALM has various vested interests which are not necessarily accurate. That

applies to many of the State Government departments, not WA specifically.

I think I would trust my Australian Suppliers a lot more than overseas suppliers

with a vested interest (even if it is not monetary).

Basically I consider your pedantic comments just so much nonsense and not worth

further discussion. You are holding too tightly to oldfashioned ideas and

appear to be very scared of new ones. Allow other people to have access to new

oils so that they can see what is available and how wonderful they are. You

remind me too much of a lecturer I had who indicated that if she didn't think it

was worthwhile teaching about an oil it was worth while knowing about it. Such

a silly attitude!

Never mind, Martin. I am sure that there are many people out there who still

think well of you, I'm just not one of them. Maybe some day I will agree with

your narrow views, but I am not sure that I will live that long.

To keep Chris and the other members happy may I suggest that if you wish to

continue this discussion we take in away from the group as after a while

'strong' discussions can become boring or distressing to some Aromatherapists.

If people find the strong examination of what they do, how they do it

and what they use, etc. distressing or boring then they have no right

being in the health care business. It is exactly that kind of

covering up or prettying up critical examination of the facts which

has got this trade into the state it is. That state is people

preferering to accept fairy tales than the facts.

Oh by the way, never assume that TV broadcasters such as the BBC are

terribly professional nowadays as recent events here have shown. I

would put my faith any day in assembling facts from numerous sources

than what a TV programme tells me.

>I think I would trust my Australian Suppliers a lot more<

I have written on that one before on this group. Many suppliers will

tell you what they think you want to hear.

Thanks Martin,

Your sure right about the new. You never really get the true facts.
