Guest guest
I know you have good intention. Could you elaborate on what you think is the best usage for Gynostemmahas. The paper that you quoted can not be reach by most of people and hard to judge how good it is. Could you post it here or summarized for me? I Dear Rong Lyu - I understand your concerns. Such claims are often made for medicianls in Shen Nung's superior class. Note Unschuld's discussion about He Shou Wu whereby mythical proportions are suggested. My personal use is as a refreshing beverage qi booster that clears heat mildly. I also use it as an inexpensive ginseng substitute. In the mid-1990s, Dr. Liang looked into sourcing the best possible Jiao Gu Lan in Shaanxi and found many grades. Where the vines grew thicker and with a darker brown color, they also had a more bitter taste (along with a subtle sweetness) and were viewed as having more efficacy as an adaptogenic tonic. It's one of the most popular beverages in Shaanxi these days, and yes it seems to carry a lot of mythological weight. I've had Taoist practitioners insist to me that it not only tonifies Qi, it tonifies Jing (the impossible dream!). It's viewed as a longevity herb as well as a Qi enhancer. And yes, it's cheap ... 1/6th the price of ginseng ... $5/lb versus about $28/lb for decent grades of each. Emmanuel Segmen

I want the real unrefined stuff. I received some LOVELY unrefined shea from Karen at http://www.aromakaye.com/ I don't normally like the unrefined... too strongly scented for my taste, and if it doesn't smell good, I'm not going to put it on my skin, thank you kindly. this had the 'typical' shea scent...but delicate...not overwhelming. in color it's a creamy beige (I've seen darker, and gray...) very very nice stuff...
