Guest guest
Hey Michelle, > OK folks (Butch!) > > I was speaking with a supplier yesterday that I was referred to by a > producer in Italy. > > I was astonished at their prices and commented on that- and their big shpeal > was that they tested -in house- all batches of incoming EOs with GC and mass > spectometry. That's not so unusual .. major buyers should not put out big bucks afore they know the product is pure. But still .. they must keep their prices within the market range if they intend to stay in business. And if they are doing the testing in house then its just a part of doing business anyway .. like paying the electric bills. > I replied that I had a very affordable supplier who batch tested all oils > (Hi Butch!) and they replied that they knew of no one in the US using MS on > every batch , and that you needed MS to know what was really in there yada yada. That is bovine excrement .. most oils have GC and GC/MS tests .. but the world is slowly turning away from Mass Spectrometry because of superior archives now. And MS does not show what is in the oil .. it shows Specific Gravity and Refractive Index. > She then went on to tell me about a Neroli that they recently tested for a > large company which was " full of pesticides. They can not determine if pesticides are in an oil with GC/MS. > orange oil and petitgrain- and no Neroli " That .. they can determine with GC or GC/MS. > Anyway- how much of this is marketing hype? Somewhere between 98% and 100%. ;-) > Is GC sufficient? Yes .. on almost all oils .. though some of the precious ones are tested with GC/MS because of tradition and the traditional expectation of getting the Specific Gravity and Refractive Index. > She also referred to organic oils being more likely to be adulterated. True> There is nothing to that .. the oils that are most likely to be adulterated are the precious oils .. Rose Otto, Melissa, Neroli, etc. > I can see why as they fetch a higher price... They do .. but they should not. More on that later too. > Anyway- I bought the oils I was looking for from Butch- because I always > know I get quality from him- and he is " no hype " and all quality. Thankee ma'am .. and you can rest assured that you got the quality. :-) > I am interested in feedback on the above, though! Gave a bit .. now lemme do a repost on GC and GC/MS. > Thanks Welcome fer'shur. > Michelle > www.greentaramama.com And y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
