Hey Joyce,

> Speaking of poison ivy does anyone know how to get rid of the plant.

Read on .. toward the bottom .. there is a way.

> They are very stubborn and very difficult to get rid of and it seems to

> be growing everywhere this year.

Yep .. prolific suckers fer'shur .. seems the Great Everywhere Spirit

arranged it so foods that were bad for our health taste better and

plants and critters that feed on us can survive despite our efforts.

Might be a part of the plan to teach us humility. ;-)

Here is some interesting info on it ..

http://www.poison-ivy.org/

For those with a strong stomach .. just below the photos (on the right

side) you can click on the Grody Poison Ivy Skin Rash Hall of Fame and

see the slide show .. and for those who have some Poison Ivy problems

now it might make them feel better to know that things can always get

worse than they are.

I have never been affected by Poison Ivy or Oak .. and as a kid I would

take dares to rub it on me. But my Mama always told me I came from an

egg laid by a buzzard on a stump and that was hatched out by the sun. I

always figgered Mama just mistook a Martian for a buzzard and someday an

autopsy was gonna find out I am not Human. But then I learned I might

be Human cause here it says 15% of Human critters are resistant ..

Great Info ......... http://www.bio.umass.edu/immunology/poisoniv.htm

Mrs. Grieve's take on it ......

Uncle Sam's take .. includes lots of good info .. including first aid

treatment, etc. ..... http://www.fda.gov/fdac/features/796_ivy.html

Good Photos here .... http://ncnatural.com/wildflwr/obnxious.html

And finally .. the answer to your question .. but there is no natural

solution .. gotta do a bit of spraying of weed killer. ;-)

> I hope someone has an effective method.

There are effective methods .. but not natural effective methods. Like

dealing with terrorists and other types who are adversaries who prey on

the innocent .. the best solution is a permanent one.

> thanks

Thanks for all the info Butch. You are a fountain of knowledge and

contacts. And very fortunate you don't get poison ivy. I am going to

be finding some jewelweed and making up a potion for the freezer so I am

ready for the next attack.

Blessings,

Joyce
