Well, Chris, you addressed this to Anne and I am not Anne, but I thought I would respond to your request for homeopathic self care book and remedy recommendations anyway. A while back I posted a few book recommendations for beginners in homeopathy (if you didn't see that post, let me know and I can forward it to you), those were mostly about the philosophy of homeopathy, so in addition to those for actual self care, Homeopathic Self-Care The Quick and Easy Guide for the Whole Family By Judyth REICHENBERG-ULLMAN, ND, MSW , Robert ULLMAN, ND http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/076150706X/qid=1087418737/sr=1-1/r\ ef=sr_1_1/002-9263697-6329646?v=glance & s=books is good beginning to homeopathic self care for acutes, which are the ONLY level of treatment one should attempt on a self care basis. Chronic complaints should be handled by professionals ONLY! (I used amazon for the link above solely for the convenience of everyone. Please, please buy from a homeopathic supplier to support the industry, or from your local bookstore to support our endangered little local bookstores.) The three homeopathic book suppliers that I know of are: www.minimum.com http://www.wholehealthnow.com/books/index.html http://www.homeopathic.com/ or even better--direct from the authors themselves: http://www.healthyhomeopathy.com/shop/showDept.asp All those sources are good in my own personal experience. http://www.homeopathyhome.com/services/books_videos.shtml is a great place to find other book suppliers, and while we're at it, www.homeopathyhome.com is a GREAT site for all things homeopathic. But back to that book I recommended above (Homeopathic Self Care) http://www.healthyhomeopathy.com/shop/showDept.asp is also where you can buy a kit that goes with the book, all the remedies in 30c or lower, which is/are the potencies that are appropriate for self care. Also, available from the sources give above you can get additional Materia Medicas and Repertories as well as all other levels of books on homeopathy. In addition to the Homeopathic Self Care book, it would probably be a good idea to get a couple of cheap Materia Medicas and maybe a repertory (in addition to the beginners books I recommended in the post a while ago). Both the following are good choices and being Indian editions, the quality is not always the best, but the prices cannot be beat! (The European quality edition of the MM is $70! for instance.) Materia Medica of Homeopathic Medicines (Indian edition) By Dr. S.R. PHATAK, MBBS Regular price: $14.00 A Concise Repertory of Homeopathic Medicines Revised & Enlarged Edition By Dr. S.R. PHATAK, MBBS $12.50 Also another good general Materia Medica: Pocket Manual of Homeopathic Materia Medica with Repertory (Indian edition) Comprising of the Characteristic and Guiding Symptoms of All Remedies (Clinical and Pathogenetic) Including Indian Drugs By William BOERICKE, MD (The classic quick reference manual for a great number of long established homeopathic medicines. Printed in India, 1108 pages, hardback) $14.95 Finally, please read at least one of the beginning philosophy books I recommended in the posts before beginning to try to self treat with homeopathy. Homeopathy, and its basis in the Law of Similars is contra-intuitive to those of us raised the culture of " Modern Western (Allopathic/MD) Medicine " . You cannot really say " use this remedy for that disease " in homeopathy. I posted extensively on this before (and will forward those to anyone who did see it and wants the posts). Even so simple as saying use Apis (honeybee) remedy for Bee Stings is not necessarily the best choice--it might work, but a different remedy might work better, depending on how the PERSON reacted to the sting especially the Mental/Emotional reaction. Hope this helps. Any further questions please ask, I am happy to try to answer, and I bet Anne is also.
