Makes sense. > That stuff that is used to numb the gums when children teethe might be > something to try.. > Besides the nailpolish, a good old time standby... Grandma used to put that on us younguns .. sometimes she used lard. > So far I've been lucky, Michigan has it's share of nasty bugs, Mosquitos > are our state bird and blackflies a real nuisance, so far chiggers are > not plentiful in my area. Chiggers prefer to chaw on folks who have high blood levels of certain chemicals found in chitlins, cracklins, fried catfeesh, hush puppies, poke/turnip/collard greens, barbecue pork and beef, fried okra, black eye peas, candied sweet taters, cornbread and such. ;-) > I've never thought of trying a mild, local anesthetic, but will get the > stuff used for teething, who knows.. Really does sound logical. Worst thing about chigger bites is that they itch so much kids (and some adults) scratch them and they become infected. Done been there myself. But like Grandma said .. Old Mastah didn't put them nice things like blackberries and such on Earth just so human critters could gather them without effort .. He wanted us to learn to get along with the other critters .. like snakes and wasps .. and chiggers. ;-) > C-M Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch
