Let me know, David Roman too_hats " at " PS Stacey posted all this info: Here's Massoia Bark info from Tony Burfield's book " Natural Aromatic Materials- Odours & Origins " ... ... Cryptocaryia massoy (Oken) Kosterm syn. Cryptocaryia massoia syn. Massoia aromatica Becc. (Kosterm) syn. Cinnamomum massoy Oken. Massoia bark oil- New Guinea Massoia bark oil is the volatile oil produced by steam distillation from the destructive wild harvesting of the bark of the Crytocaria massoia (=Cryptocarya massoy) (Fam. Lauraceae), one of some 200 Cryptocaryia species found in warm and tropical regions. C. massoy is native to New Guinea. The odour profile of the oil is sweet, lactonic, delicately coconut and very creamy (like coconut toffees), with pungent, oily, terpenic top note. Dry-down is very powerful lactonic, coconut, and courmarinic, with a hint of mintiness. The main component is massoia lactone, or R-(-)-5-dec-2-en-5-olide, which is powerfully irritant (banned IFRA) together with other analogous unsaturated lactones, benzyl esters, limonene, b-selinene, 1-pentyl-1, 3-cyclohexadiene etc. Formerly used in household fragrances, cosmetics and flavourings.
