Guest guest
I know that you folks have given me great ideas for keeping the little buggers away. Alas, I have already been bitten. It is driving me crazy. I got bit once and now I have at least 5 spots on the back of my knees and calf. The spots and itching continues. I hope someone can give me advice on something to STOP THE ITCH. Thanks in advance, Kathy
Guest guest
Hi,I am usually only lurking about but the need for chigger relief really strikes home as I get some pretty bad bites every summer. The only thing I have found to relieve the itch is by taking an ice cube and wrapping it in a washcloth or something like that and holding it against the chiggerbit for maybe 5 minutes or so or until you don't feel it any longer. This relief lasts for hours for me and it is an easy and safe relief for the itching.Looking forward to hearing if others have had any luck with other treatments.Hate those chiggers!!--- kat101962 wrote:> I know that you folks have given me great ideas for> keeping the > little buggers away. Chiggers may spread (and Itch) until the skin over them is sealed. I have had 2 pretty bad cases already this summer, and have found that vasoline (oh no! petroleum works like a charm. Anything you may have heard about petroleum jelly being terrible as a skin lubricant is proven correct in this case! Anyway. By covering just the bites, I found the itching stopped and the spread! daisie -- Ubi nunc sapientis ossa Merlini
Guest guest
kathy, use the old stand-by, clear fingernail polish. hubby has been painting my behind for the last couple of days, whenever a new batch crops up. we're putting up new fences for our horses and you just can't get away from the darn things. if hubby had his way, the color would be blood red. i can just imagine what my behind would look like if the dots were connected! LOL i think that it's a combination of the alcohol and then sealing the air off. i've been using renu-a-nail. it's a nail strengthener. good god, reading the ingredients is something! ethyl acetate, toluene, butyl acetate, isopropyl alcohol, tosylamide/ formaldehyde resin, camphor, polyvinyl butyrol........ and now i read, avoid contact with skin. ok, now i'm gonna have to find something else for hubby to paint my butt with............................. deb c
Guest guest
Well, I guess my husband would have to agree. I have one spot as big as a quarter on my calf. It is just the ugliest thing you can imagine. Some how I got some of them to stop by itching them open. When the scab formed the itching stopped. Except for the biggest one. Go figure. Thanks for the help.
