Hi Kathryn,

I am fairly new to the group and I'm enjoying the messages.

I have diabetes controlled by sensible eating and exercise. Diabetes was

caused in part by heavy steroids when I had cancer in 1995.

I have been using tea tree oil for several years and had not heard that it

was contraindicated for people with diabetes. I use it mostly in my cleaning

products, but do use it sometimes mixed with olive oil and lavender eo for bug

bites and use it sometimes in my mouthwash. Am I doing something wrong?

I have to admit I have never head that TT is contraindicated for diabetes...

Would love to know more on this. Is there documentation to support this or is

this just something some author stated or what....

Cheers!

You don't mention what your mother's specific medical problems are... I am not

aware of any drug interactions with tea tree EO, but it is contraindicated for

diabetes, insulin resistance syndrome and sensitive skin. I would not use it on

broken skin, nor use it neat, especially on elderly skin which tends to be

fragile and possibly more prone to sensitization.
