Hi Kathryn, I am fairly new to the group and I'm enjoying the messages. I have diabetes controlled by sensible eating and exercise. Diabetes was caused in part by heavy steroids when I had cancer in 1995. I have been using tea tree oil for several years and had not heard that it was contraindicated for people with diabetes. I use it mostly in my cleaning products, but do use it sometimes mixed with olive oil and lavender eo for bug bites and use it sometimes in my mouthwash. Am I doing something wrong? I am not aware of any drug interactions with tea tree EO, but it is contraindicated for diabetes, insulin resistance syndrome and sensitive skin. I would not use it on broken skin, nor use it neat, especially on elderly skin which tends to be fragile and possibly more prone to sensitization.
