Yo Buffy,

> *Crap* (I heard this was an acceptable word to use on this list.)

Crap is certainly acceptable .. as is bovine excrement. ;-)

> Now after reading all this about the worst blends, I know hubbins and

> I will be sitting all by ourselves at the lake because we will have

> catnip EO sprayed on us. The rest of our friends should have a great

Being alone is not always a bad thing .. but if you don't wish to be

alone there are two options available. Give the friends a bit of Catnip

too .. and/or .. make the odor more pleasant. A spoonful of sugar

makes the medicine go down .. a tad of Lemon Tea Tree in the Catnip

mixture makes the odor nicer .. and Lemon Tea Tree is (to some degree)

also effective against Skeeter Critters.

> However, as long as the skeeters stay away, I don't think we will mind

> tooooo much.

That would be my personal take on it .. but I am a Lone Wolf at times.

> The West Nile was bad here in Colorado last year, so it will be in

> use at home also.

West Nile is permanently established in the Western Hemisphere, says the

Center for Disease Control in Atlanta. And it can be transmitted year

around when temperatures are mild .. not just in summer. Mosquitos can

and do survive in winter .. that too comes from the CDC.

There are many actions we can take to try to prevent infection .. and

almost without exception they recommend DEET (N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide)

which was produced around 50 plus years ago for the US Army .. and they

claim that, " Over the long history of DEET use, very few confirmed

incidents of toxic reactions to DEET have occurred when the product is

used properly. Use of these products may cause skin reactions in rare

cases. If you suspect a reaction to this product, discontinue use, wash

the treated skin, and call your local poison control center. There is a

new national number to reach a Poison Control Center near you:

1-800-222-1222. " What does this tell me? Not a helluva lot. Billions

of folks used it but " very few " had toxic reactions .. how many? My

buddy, Martin, might say that we should not use Catnip because we have

no safety testing on it .. and to that I say .. " Bovine Excrement! "

Why have all of the government agencies and pharmaceutical companies

totally disregarded the research already conducted on Catnip? I think

we don't have to be rocket scientists to understand why. The below is

but ONE of the many URLs I could provide on the use of Catnip!

http://www.av-at.com/catnip.html

And we know that West Nile is not the ONLY disease spread by Skeeters.

Mosquito repellents DO NOT have to be placed on the skin .. they do the

job when sprayed on our clothing. A 5% - 6% mixture of Canadian Catnip

is effective .. we can take that to the bank .. and to the Amazon says

one testimonial I have from the brother of Victoria Linssen.

> Hubbins took the mixture with him for this 11 day fishing trip.

Good for him. I plan to be in the USA for a couple of months beginning

in July .. and there is NO WAY I will not use my own Catnip mixed with

Fractionated Coconut and a bit of Lemon Tea Tree. I will be mostly in

the South and plan to fish and be out and about .. and be safe.

> Good thing it's just a " guy " trip. I wonder what he will say when he

> gets home? ROFLMAO.

If he is going fishing I expect he will act as all fisherfolks do. The

question is .. are all fisherpersons liars .. or do all liars fish? ;-)

> I'm feeling a bit onry about now, thinking of him sitting around the

> sitting around the campfire, smelling.

And smiling too methinks. ;-) Such little trips do much to keep a

marriage intact. The temporary duty assignments soldiers experience do

too .. its when they retire that the danger of splitting shows up. ;-)

> I'd better be careful though because my turn is coommmmiiiinnnnggggg.

Good show .. the above works both ways it does.

> I forgot to ask the other supplier on this list, from whom I

> purchased the after sun lotion, if it would help us smell better

> after we shower this stuff off to sleep. They were kind enough to

> the right place.

I don't know the answer to that .. but I can tell you that application

of cold pressed, unrefined, extra-virgin olive oil to the skin .. AFTER

exposure to the sun .. helps greatly to prevent skin cancer. I can dig

up the research on this if anybody is interested enough to make a bet on

it .. or they can find it themselves. ;-) I used to offer this product

but have had none for quite some time .. so this is not a marketing pitch.

> I guess maybe the clothes get the spray. Oh and that means I need

> more changes of clothes!!! What a learning experience this will be.

More cloths? You mean you don't have two pairs of jeans, a couple of

shirts and a couple of T-shirts now? Wimmens always want too much in

the way of clothes. ;-)

> Kathleen's idea was great fun though - worst blends. Hehehehe

> hahaha. I only look for EO's that smell goooooodddddd as I used them

> for moods a lot. I guess I haven't purchased or used any of other

> *smelly* ones.

There are them that like the odor of Patchouli .. mostly old hippies

methinks. ;-) I think it smells bad enough to knock a maggot off a gut

wagon.

> It's great to *see* so many new faces. Welcome everyone. I mostly

> lurk. I just come out once in a while.

Good it is for sure .. this list has picked up over 200 new members

since January .. that is maybe a record. More than 700 members now.

And .. there were 30 plus folks bouncing yesterday .. some of the

moderators went into the files and sent a reactivation request. From

time to time bounces folks and only the Great Everywhere Spirit

knows why.

When we are bouncing we get a reactivation request .. if we don't get

one and we are not getting the messages .. we need to go into the list

and send such a request to ourselves.

To do this go to /

Then log in with our password .. then go to My Groups in the upper Right

Hand Corner. Then click on Oils & Herbs .. if you are bouncing there

should be a notice there saying so .. and telling you what to do. One

other option .. if you are not getting messages .. is to send a post to

Chris and ask her to reactivate your account. :-)

> Thanks,

> Buffy

Yes mam .. welcome you be fer'shur .. and wishing you and yours a

skeeter free summer .. with lots of fish and lots of smiles. :-)

Butch http://www.AV-AT.com

Hey there Butch,

Thanks for the reminder to add the dab of Lemon Tee Tree to the

skeeter mixture. I had forgotten.

These trips of his - fishing, boating in the summer and pheasant

hunting in the late fall and early winter do us wonders. We learned

early on that we needed to be away from one another for short periods

of time - we don't do well hangin in each other back pocket. However

I like to be at the Lake also - we get to see people we haven't seen

all winter.

You're right, us wimmens have to have our clothes! Good to see you

back from your trip and treating us with your tales as well as good

information. Did I see that you have a new name? Sexy Butch? > >

Sorry I got some of these answers out of order - I am running a

fever. Picked up a terrible sore throat. Feel a little loopy!
