Guest guest
Hello everyone, I know someone posted about oregano EO to help with back pain. But I am looking for something more. I have a friend that is suffering from some serious pain in the lower back and down the right leg. She stepped in a hole a couple of days ago, and the pain has gotten steadily worse. She went to the ER yesterday, thinking she may have broken something....and they told her that it was a contusion (sp?), and gave her some pain medication. This medication is doing NOTHING for her pain, and when I talked to her just a few mins ago, she was in tears. Please, if there is anything you can recommend for her....I am all ears! Here's a list of the EO's I have......but if there is something else that I haven't listed, feel free to recommend anything. Patchouli Bulgarian Lavender Lemongrass Sandalwood Cedarwood Tea Tree Clove Ylang Ylang Eucalyptus and I think I have some others....but I can't think of them off hand. Thanks so much in advance for any help you can give. Sincerely, Candy in AL

What do you mean when you say she " stepped " into a hole? Did she fall? Was it a big hole? Something in her back could be out of whack causing the pain, or she pulled a muscle near the sciatic nerve, which runs from the lower region of the back through the buttocks and down the legs. It is painful, that's for sure. My SO is dealing with this right now himself. It's been our experience that it takes time. I massaged Mike's back and glutes one night (via the moonlight - it was a full moon a shinin' on a full moon! ha). He had a lot of relief the next day. And it seems to get a little better with each day. Someone on this list offered me the suggestion of ginger, lavender and eucalyptus glob. in apricot kernel oil. That is what I used as a massage oil. I can't remember your personal stash of oils you listed, but if oregano is on it try it. I'm gonna get myself some of Butch's here soon. See if you can find where the pain is coming from. Picture her pain as being an earthquake. Find the epicenter. Trace along the spine (along side the spi ne, not directly on the spine), along side the sacrum, across the glutes angling out away from midline and down the leg. Be careful with the amount of pressure. If you can find the nerve this way you'll know what areas surrounding the nerve that should be massaged and relax them. Mind you, this is if the pain is musclar/ligamentous/tendonous in nature (which is what a contusion is, according to my dictionary). Best wishes to you and your friend, Teresea C. Guest guest
I have been mixing a very short time but my friends are have great success with my recipe for back pain. I use 2 tablespoons of apricot kernel oil, 10 drops lavender, 10 drops ginger and 10 drops of eucalyptus. I got this recipe from Valerie Worwood's book...The complete book of essential oils and aromatherapy. Everyone who tries it just loves it. - C. Lucas 6/4/2004 2:04:34 PM back and leg pain relief? Guest guest
I don't know for sure...according to Franzesca Watson in Aromatherapy blends & remedies on page 109 " Massaged into the limbs, ginger increases the flow of blood to the extremities for cold, rheumatic pains in the hands and feet. " Same book page 93 " It is a good expectorant, helping to clear mucus and blocked sinuses. Also helpful for coughs and bronchitis. " I'm not sure oak bark as it isn't something I have heard of before. I hope this info helps.
