Hi Margaret,

Welcome back .. we missed you. Congratulations on the new house/home

and wishing you all many years of peaceful living therein. :-)

Obviously not Marge here .. but I will put in my 4 Lira. ;-)

Those who speak French or German can find more on this .. most of the

data listed regarding Biovert in those languages .. but the following

makes it clear that it is no more a preservative than are essential oils

and it can't be listed as a preservative in the USA. Its called a Non

Preservative Protection System. The INCI designation for this product

is Glucose & Glucose Oxidase & Lactoperoxidase .. a mouthful fer'shur.

But that does not stop slick marketers who know how to dance around the

facts. While we watch them singing their humma-humma songs and dancing

their schuffle-schuffle dance we pay no attention to their hands and if

we misinterpret the word " inhibiting " we might even believe they have a

natural preservative. ;-P Many, many, many things inhibit the growth

of microbial critters .. but they too ain't preservatives.

Might need to do some highlighting and pasting on this one.

For those who don't wanna bother doing that .. the above is a FAQ on

this product .. and its clearly stated that though though use of the

product in the USA and Europe is NOT prohibited .. it CAN NOT be listed

as a preservative .. cause .. it AIN'T a preservative.

It has not been safety tested on live critters .. only in vitro testing.

And there are some " potential " .. " hypothetical " .. hard to get a finger

on it .. " possible " and " negligible " (says they) hazards.

Basically .. its gar-an-teed to not rust, bust or collect dust and under

the right conditions, when Gawd's in His Heaven and all's right with the

World it MIGHT even help to slow down critter growth to " some " degree.

Basically .. I read it as a new way to make money and it appears to be

doing just that.

Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com

Thank you very much! It's nice to know that a few folks on my favorite list

I was definately interested in it myself. I hadn't spent the money yet, but

was looking into it. It sounds logical and like it works to kill the

microbes by destroying the cell wall. However, there is the ever present

" not a preservative " but a protection system. This type of stuff makes it

very difficult for a person like me who would like to keep her products as

natural as possible and wants to stay away from synthetic potentially

harmful preservatives. I know I know, bad buggies in skin care is a lot

worse. I currently use potassium sorbate (which is not naturally produced

much anymore, but a synthetic food safe version) and keep my lotions and

such to a lower ph, as well as using containers that need a treatment pump,

thus no finger dipping. Well, maybe someday someone will come up with that

natural preservative that is safe and effective but I won't hold my breath.

;)
