We did attempt to find the burrow or nest or whatever they live in with no luck. We got to thinking that he had the cats scent on him, as well as ours, and the mommy might reject him if we put him back anyway. Called the vet. They put us in touch with a bunny rescue person who was close to us. In the Phoenix area, apparently, there are people who volunteer their time to care for wild bunnies/rabbits who have been injured, hit by cars, brought in by dogs and cats, etc. They attempt to rehabilitate them, get them well enough to fend for themselves. Then they release them in the wild. Their life span is usually quite short. They are, after all, at the bottom of the food chain. Everything seems to eat them....must be why Mother Nature allowed for such large litters. Anyway, we took our little guy to the bunny rescue lady. Her Son-In-Law was a vet, so she had access to x-rays and meds. Although he looked uninjured, she immediately pointed out puncture wounds from my kittys teeth. she already had several rabbits there in various stages of rehabilitation. Don't know if that service is in all areas, but call some of the local vets to find out. Good luck!
