Guest guest
I'm very forgetful as you know by now, but I think this topic was up for discussion some tima back - but dang if I can remember it. And since I'm so very bad at searching the archives, you just have to forgive me to bring it up again. The thing is - my DH is suffering from a loudly rumbling tummy the last month. I mean, it's like there is some small entity trapped inside, howlering to get out ;-) I can stand it, but it's kind of embaressing when it starts to growle in the middle of an important business meeting.... Any input on what can be the source of this fearsome sound and how to treat it, will be hugely appreciated - from all parts LOL. Fragrant Blessings, Ylva
Guest guest
Ylva, If there is one thing I know, its tummy trouble. Start with a good food enzyme before you eat. If you have no problems with an acidic stomach I recommend HCl. That is your stomachs natural acid, it works great. Take that or other enzyme 20 min before a meal. And if tummy still is bothersome, take some peppermint capsules or tea. That will help with gas. Take some ginger capsules or tea and that will help with any kind of tummy upset. Those three are my all time favs. Hope you feel better. Taking a digestive bitter to coax your own production may be a better idea- organic gentian, cardamon and orange peel is yummy- tinctured in Brandy... And...eat at regular intervals. Guest guest
Ylva, I swear by using Swedish bitters to help my digestion. We need bitters in our diet , something rarely done anymore. For long-standing digestive problems a cure with Millet can do wonders to regulate the acidity again, which usually is the problem. Michelle - Really? I never knew that. Cause my family is notorious for digestive problems. Do you have the infomation on this? anything to back this statment up? I would love any information on it. Can you take bitters if your body is too acidic? or are the bitters just to make your stomach HCl work more affectivly? Jen w/ Turkey Toby tt and Baloo the bear _______________ Getting married? Guest guest
Here's some backup--it's standard instructions for folks with ulcers, hiatus hernia, GERD and reflux esophagitis. Been told this by every GI specialist I've seen over the past 12 years. HTH. I use papaya enzyme tablets--three little ones that are chewable and taste great after every meal. Saves on Tums and tastes good too. Serra " Jen-Jen and T.T. " wrote: > And...eat at regular intervals. > > Michelle - Really? I never knew that. Cause my family is notorious for > digestive problems. Guest guest
Does this mean that millet is a very alkalizing grain? Most grains are the opposite, although I know millet is one that actually agrees with me, so that could make sense. If it is not alkalizinig, what is it about the millet that makes it so good for digestion? Thanks, Debbie>> Debbie, Millet is neutral, that's why it can heal the intestinal tract, plus give you excellent nourishment. Twice, after major surgery that required heavy, long use of antibiotics, my stomach got so poor that even the high powdered costly drugs did not help, they talked about more surgery for gastric reflux, possible ulcers.. I went on a two strict millet diet and got straightened out. But millet was all I ate and a light clear broth to drink, all warm. Than I added warm soups and slowly more different foods. Took some discipline and some tinkering with millet to make it more palatable, but it got my stomach back on track. My daughter who has severe digestion problems, takes slippery elm before eating and lot's of acidophyllous. It works for her. C-M
