Guest guest
Mouthy here for her two ¢ worth when it comes to synergies and simple blends. Synergistic blends have their place. Without a doubt they do. However, it is my considered opinion (I want folks to not that I no longer say " humble " ROFLMAO) that in the case of a burn or whenever you are addressing ONE single problem, a synergy isn't neccessary. Especially when one considers that a synergist blend often times includes everything but the kitchen sink, if one is of the philosophy that more is better. Personaly I'm not... I'm a simplistic type person and figure once you go beyond three or four oils it becomes not synergy but hodge-podge... mind you, this is my OWN opinion and not shared by a lot of people including the so called masters at the YL mixing factories. ANYWAY (did I mention I tend to go off on tangents?) for a simple thing like a burn (I'm not talking third degree or over a large portion of the body either[except for sunburns]), contained to a fairly small area, one is not looking for a blend that is going to be addressing spiritual, emotional ills. One is addressing a burn and how best keep it comfortable and heal it with a minimum of fuss and pain. In which case one wants a simple blend. sometimes JUST lavender (in a carrier), sometimes a simple blend of Lavender and Heli or (My choice would be Lavender, heli in either Rose Hip to try and prevent scarring or Jojoba oil for the comfort factor) with Aloe slop slapped on. I have a very nice recipe that calls for Lavender, Heli, rosehip in beeswax... smells good and makes a sticky icky mess... but shore am a good 'un. It's not a synergistic blend. It's a " simple' blend. There is a big diff between the two and I think the word synergistic is just tossed around way too much. Gotta run, being nagged at! More later if anyone thinks it's necessary and I highly doubt they will! ;-) K Cheers!
