I hope everyone has a great weekend! Here in the US it is Memorial Day Weekend. A time to remember, pay respects, and say thank you to all who have served in the armed forces and sacrificed - and a Monday to enjoy off for many too - so don't forget to say thank you for Monday off also! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com == == == == == == == == == == York, the oldest inland town in Western Australia, is hosting the inaugural York Olive & Fine Food Festival in June. Our beautiful old town with its heritage buildings will showcase the emerging industry that has become so popular in this district, which offers perfect growing conditions for olives. The festival will offer on Saturday a day of practical " hands on " seminars and sessions for the Olive grower, covering such topics as pruning, harvesting, and oil production, with workshops on Olive Oil tasting and preparing Table Olives. Presenters include Richard Gawel, Prof Stan Kailis, Luigi Bazzani, Arnaud Courtin and Ed Reed. Sunday will be a free family day, with music, entertainment, cooking demonstrations and talks, featuring The Mediterranean Garden, and the Mediterranean Diet. There will be market stalls, and olive oils and olives for tasting and sale. The Farmyard on Wheels will entertain the little ones, and the Navy Band will have your feet tapping. In conjunction with the Festival York will conduct an Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition, and calls for growers around WA to enter their new season oils. The winners will be announced at the Awards Presentation Dinner at the Ragged Robin Restaurant, York on Saturday 19th June. Entires for the competition close on 14th June 2004.
